The Peter Moody & Katherine Coleman-trained filly Sheza Alibi announced herself as one of the season’s most exciting three-year-olds when demolishing the colts and geldings by a huge margin to salute for the punters in Saturday’s Randwick Guineas 2026 results.

The daughter of Saxon Warrior was well supported in the markets for this year’s Group 1 $1 million Randwick Guineas (1600m) going out as the short-priced top fancy after her impressive first-up victory in the Group 2 Angus Armanasco last time out.

Living up to the hype and her price, Sheza Alibi ($2.10F) made it four wins on the bounce easily accounting for her rivals as the sole filly in the Randwick Guineas field.

Sheza Alibi became the first Randwick Guineas winning filly since Mosheen (2012) and handed jockey Luke Nolen his 2000th career success!

Reuniting with Luke Nolen who rode her to back-to-back glory in the Group 3 The Vanity and Group 2 Sandown Guineas in the spring, she proved unstoppable late when bolting home to beat the Chris Waller-trained Autumn Boy by 3.2 lengths with Attica a distant third.

“She is just something special, this filly,” co-trainer Katherine Coleman told Sky Thoroughbred Central after the phenomenal victory by Sheza Alibi who became the first Randwick Guineas winning filly since Mosheen in 2012.

“She put the writing on the wall previously, but this has been her hardest test to date and to put a quality field away like that, wowee, I’m shaking.

“It was (an ambitious plan to come here).

“She always put the writing on the wall that she has got that extra quality, and I think she is something really special and she deserved her spot here today.

“And hasn’t she done a good job.”

Nolen gave the winning filly a patient and well-timed ride settling back in the field before coming from sixth at the turn for home to begin her run in earnest inside the final 300m.

Once she moved up to Autumn Boy it was all over in the blink of an eye as she got the upper hand, hit the lead, pinned her ears back and simply outclassed them in a stunning Randwick Guineas performance for the ages.

“When it was a soft run behind the hardest to beat (Autumn Boy), dragged us everywhere we needed to be, and she grew wings at the furlong,” Nolen said after securing his milestone 2000th race victory.

“She’s an exceptional horse.”

While the team are leaning towards putting Sheza Alibi out for the autumn to save her for a big spring campaign later in the year, the bookies are taking no chances should she race on and head to the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) on Slipper Day, March 21.

She’s firmed in from $15 into $5 in the latest all-in Rosehill Guineas betting odds at Ladbrokes.com.au with today’s two placegetters, Autumn Boy and Attica, the current co-$4 favourites.

“We’ll see how she comes through this,” Coleman said.

“The plan always was to have a pretty light autumn because she had such a deep spring preparation.

“So, her and I will be on the road back to Melbourne tomorrow morning.

“We will see how she comes through it.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if we put her away now and save her for the spring.”
