2019 Tattersall’s Tiara Nominations: Five for Waller

Ace Sydney horseman of Winx fame Chris Waller has five nominations for Saturday’s Tattersall’s Tiara 2019 in Brisbane including last start Dane Ripper Stakes winner Invincibella.

I Am Invincible mare Invincibella posted back-to-back wins in the Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes (1400m) at Eagle Farm on June 8, emulating the fellow Waller-trained Red Tracer who was also a two-time Dane Ripper Stakes winner in 2012-13.

The five-year-old is now set to return to Eagle Farm Racecourse this Saturday for a shot at the Queensland Winter Racing Carnival’s final Group 1 race.

The Group 1 $500,000 Sky Racing Tattersall’s Tiara (1400m) attracted 33 nominations this season.

With five, Waller is out to post his first win in the race since Red Tracer completed the Dane Ripper – Tatt’s Tiara double in 2013.

Invincibella ran fifth in the race last year on the back of her first Dane Ripper success.

In 2012 Red Tracer was fourth in the Tiara after her opening Dane Ripper Stakes win before atoning and winning both events 12 months later, form which bodes well for Invincibella for the stable in 2019.

All-in Tattersall’s Tiara betting at Ladbrokes.com.au list Invincibella at $11.

The other Waller-trained Tattersall’s Tiara nominees are fellow I Am Invincible five-year-old Eckstein, 2017 Queensland Oaks winner Egg Tart ($15), consistent Foxwedge mare Noire ($21) who ran fourth when under a length beaten in the Dane Ripper and third placegetter in the same traditional Tatt’s lead-up Prompt Response.

Defending champion Prompt Response is the best-fancied of Waller’s chances at $10 Tattersall’s Tiara odds.

She won the 2017 Dane Ripper Stakes before finishing second to Tycoon Tara in the Tiara that year, then last winter ran second in the Dane Ripper before winning the Group 1 when it took place at Doomben Racecourse for Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott.

If successful on Saturday, Prompt Response will join Bonanova (1999-2000) as the only dual Tattersall’s Tiara winners in the race’s history.

Prompt Response is out to become the second two-time Tiara winning joining Bonanova (1999-2000)

Waller’s track specialist meanwhile is Eckstein, a current $17 shot in the latest Tatt’s Tiara odds at Ladbrokes.com.au, who has terrific form at Eagle Farm boasting two wins and a third from her three previous runs at the course.

The third came last start when rounding out the Group 3 Glenlogan Park Stakes (1300m) trifecta on May 25, a race she won back in 2017.

She has enjoyed a subsequent Gold Coast barrier trial win on June 11 over 1000m and looks for her first win since the first-up Group 3 Southern Cross Stakes victory at Randwick back in mid-February.

Current Tattersall’s Tiara favourite in pre-field betting is Godolphin’s Glenlogan Park Stakes winner Savatiano ($5)

Other notable entries include Godolphin’s two Medaglia D’Oro fillies Pohutukawa ($6), who ran third to Kolding in the Group 2 Queensland Guineas (1600m) on Stradbroke Day, and Multaja ($9) coming off a black-type Doomben win from June 1.

The official Tattersall’s Tiara 2019 field and barriers are announced on Wednesday followed by updated markets at Ladbrokes.com.au.
