Running as Morphettville Race 7 at 4:06pm (ACST), this season’s Group 1 $600,000 South Australian Derby (2500m) features a capacity field of three-year-olds and currently four are under double-figures for the win at Ladbrokes.com.au.

Heading the latest South Australian Derby betting markets at $3.80 is the Darren Weir-trained Leicester looking to hand Weir with a third straight win in the race.

The Wanted gelding took out the Group 3 Chairman’s Stakes (2035m) here last time out and looks a genuine winning hope to do the double rising in distance on Saturday.

The next shortest priced South Australian Derby odds on offer are for market mover Tangled ($6) and High ‘N’ Dry ($6) both drawn out wide.

Chris Waller’s perennial placegetter Tangled comes off a trio of top three runs including two at elite level in Sydney.

After a Rosehill Guineas (2000m) second and ATC Derby (2400m) third, the Snitzel colt was last seen finishing a nostril-flare second in the Group 3 Frank Packer Plate (2000m) on April 21 and will relish coming back up in distance.

High ‘N’ Dry meanwhile has work to do from the wide alley, but the Mathew Ellerton & Simon Zahra-trained gelding is used to nasty barriers and continues to find ways to overcome them including in the lead-up Chairman’s Stakes second.

To uncover where any value could be at in the markets, below we go over the full SA Derby 2018 form guide and betting history before you head to Ladbrokes.com.au to place your weekend racing bets!
