Anthony & Sam Freedman‘s consistent and classy young filly Point Barrow remains favourite in Robert Sangster Stakes 2026 betting for her trip to South Australia on Saturday despite drawing near the carpark for the Group 1 feature at Morphettville.

The headline act on the opening Adelaide Autumn Racing Carnival Group 1 meeting, this year’s $1 million Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) field is down to 15 starters following the early withdrawal of Aviatress (17) and Soft Love (2).

Sitting top of the latest Robert Sangster Stakes odds at $4.80 through Ladbrokes.com.au is Blue Point filly Point Barrow who has won five of her eight starts to date and is out to be the event’s first three-year-old champ since Ruthless Dame (2023).

The bonny bay was last seen taking out the Group 3 Typhoon Tracy Stakes (1200m) second-up by a length at Caulfield on March 21 and she’s been kept fresh since.

Eight of the past nine Robert Sangster Stakes winners jumped from barrier 11 or wider!

She carted 58.5kg to victory that day and comes back to 54.5kg this weekend with Daniel Stackhouse sticking with.

The only knock on this autumn’s Robert Sangster top elect is her carpark draw with Point Barrow to jump from the outside alley.

That said, eight of the past nine Robert Sangster Stakes winners started from a double-digit barrier including Secret Agenda (gate 16 in 2017).

The danger on the second line of betting at $6.50 and firming is the early market mover and the defending champion Charm Stone for Mick Price & Michael Kent Jnr.

Charm Stone is back to defend her title looking to become history's first back-to-back Robert Sangster winner!

History is against the now five-year-old daughter of I Am Invincible with no horse to date able to successfully defend their Robert Sangster Stakes title.

She won the race fresh last year by a narrow margin and went on to claim the Group 1 Manikato Stakes by two lengths in a first-up upset this September at huge odds.

Out of the money in her two runs since, she was far from disgraced at her latest running a brave fourth behind subsequent The Quokka champ Jigsaw at Caulfield under a length beaten in the Group 1 William Reid in a strong form race that can stack up in Adelaide on the weekend.

In a tight top half of the markets, a further four final acceptors are also under $10 for the win including Chris Waller‘s rails-drawn Generosity.

Master horseman Waller is chasing his maiden Robert Sangster success and saddles-up a live chance in this five-year-old daughter of Divine Prophet.

Her only start at Morphettville to date was with former trainer Simon Miller when crossing 1.7 lengths back fifth to Reserve Bank in last year’s Group 1 The Goodwood (1200m).

She kicked off this campaign with a Group 2 Challenge Stakes (1000m) win by a narrow margin at Randwick before her eye-catching fifth under a half-length off the Challenge Stakes runner-up Marhoona in Rosehill’s Group 1 The Galaxy (1100m) from the outside alley.

Benefiting from a rails draw now, she should relish the step up to six furlongs at this stage of her prep and Mark Zahra is a very nice replacement rider for J-Mac.

Next best with previous winning form at the track is Skybird ($7.50) with Mitchell Freedman‘s Exosphere five-year-old jumping from barrier 12 with Johnny Allen in the saddle.

Skybird returns to South Australia for the first time since 2024 when she won the Group 2 Tobin Bronze Stakes before a ninth behind Benedetta in that year’s The Goodwood.

She hasn’t won since her Group 1 Black Caviar Lightning victory at HQ back in February last year, but caught the eye on April 4 running out of her skin second-up to finish third to the talented Joliestar at 40/1 in the Group 1 TJ Smith.

Bridal Waltz ($8.50) from the Moody/Coleman camp and the Ciaron Maher-trained aforementioned 2024 Goodwood champion at this track and trip, Benedetta ($9) who is drawn well in gate four for Jamie Melham, complete the single figure hopes at time of publish.

The 2026 Robert Sangster Stakes is set to run as Morphettville Race 8 at 4:48pm (ACST) / 5:18pm (AEST) on Saturday’s nine-race card.
