The best of the season’s milers are on show in Sydney this weekend with a $1.5 million classic showdown taking place at Randwick, and the Races.com.au team has the expert 2025 Epsom Handicap tips and best bets right here.

There are 14 quality gallopers making up the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m) field with the undefeated mare, Autumn Glow from the Chris Waller yard, dominating the markets at $2.35 but easing slightly after opening odds-on through Ladbrokes.com.au.
So, will Autumn Glow deliver for the punters and extend her winning streak to seven straight to hand Waller his sixth Epsom trophy?
Will Joesph Pride’s defending champion Ceolwulf go back-to-back with another win over the famous Randwick mile?
Or is there an upset pending from one of the other contenders such as Bjorn Baker’s last start Tramway Stakes winner Pericles?
We will find out when the Epsom Handicap runs as Randwick Race 8 at 4:15pm (AEST) on Saturday.
In the meantime, check out our Same Race Multi selections for the iconic handicap clash below.

AUTUMN GLOW (14), the unbeaten daughter of The Autumn Sun, sits atop the Epsom Handicap market with a perfect six-from-six record and two wins at Royal Randwick, now offering value at over $2. Trained by master conditioner Chris Waller, who seeks his sixth win in the race, she arrives off dominant performances in the Group 3 Toy Show and Group 2 Theo Marks, where her electric turn of foot under Kerrin McEvoy turned heads. Despite stepping up to a mile for the first time and drawing barrier 14, historical trends and her temperament suggest she’ll handle both with ease, especially carrying just 54.5kg. Though mares have rarely won this race, Autumn Glow’s class, speed, and adaptability make her a serious threat in her Group 1 debut.
PIER (13) is a Kiwi raider that shapes as a compelling outsider for the 2025 Epsom Handicap, drawn one gate inside the favourite and bringing solid form from his Australian campaign, including a Listed mile win at Eagle Farm under 59kg. He was brave fresh when third behind Autumn Glow in the Theo Marks—a key form line—and looks primed to improve second-up over the 1600m, especially with a favourable weight swing down to 53.5kg. His closing effort in the Tramway was eye-catching, and if the race pattern suits, Pier looms as a genuine double-figure threat capable of upsetting the favourites.
FULLY LIT (8) enters the 2025 Epsom Handicap as one of the market outsiders, but this Waterhouse/Bott-trained four-year-old remains an intriguing roughie with untapped potential and a sharp turn of foot. After a disappointing Group 1 debut in the 2024 Golden Slipper, the stable has taken a patient approach, and he’s since impressed with a dominant five-length win at Rosehill over 1400m carrying 60kg, followed by a narrow second in a BM94 at Randwick and a strong third in the Cameron Handicap. Dropping to the 50kg minimum with Winona Costin aboard, he’s well weighted and could be dangerous late if the tempo is genuine—making him a smoky chance to surprise in a blowout.
