Punters are treated to three Group status races in total tonight starting with Race 4 at 7:45pm (AEDT) where a quality line-up of fillies and mares run in the Group 2 $300,000 Sunline Stakes (1600m).
It is a diminutive but class Sunline Stakes 2022 field gathered with all seven original acceptors still in the mix led in betting at Ladbrokes.com.au by Flying Mascot at an odds-on quote to make it three straight wins.
Of course, the event all the punters are waiting for is the Group 1 $1 million William Reid Stakes (1200m) set to run as Race 7 at The Valley at 9:15pm (AEDT).
Two horses have been scratched from the 2022 William Reid Stakes field with Cliff Brown’s galloper #3 The Inferno (7) withdrawn due to a sore foot and the widely-drawn youngster #13 Marine One (13) out for the Maher/Eustace stable.
Ciaron Maher & David Eustace are still dually represented with the market mover Generation heavily backed in from $26 to $8.50 in William Reid Stakes betting along with the odds-on favourite Marabi ($1.75).
Marabi is undefeated coming off a seven-straight winning streak that includes a strong last start performance in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m).
