Following the barrier draw for Saturday’s $1 million Group 1 in Perth the updated 2019 Kingston Town Classic betting markets remain led by the Grant & Alana Williams-trained filly Tuscan Queen who came up trumps with gate three.

Last Perth Summer Racing Carnival Arcadia Queen became just the second filly in history to take out the Group 1 $1 million Kingston Town Classic (1800m) at Ascot Racecourse.
Now with Chris Waller, Arcadia Queen was formerly trained by the Williams’ team who return chasing back-to-back Kingston Town Classic wins with four final acceptors.
Their number one seed is the well-bred daughter of Fastnet Rock Tuscan Queen who comes into the weight-for-age classic having won three of her four career starts.
The last on November 16 at the Ascot track saw her and the state’s leading hoop William Pike take out the Group 3 WA Champion Fillies Classic (1600m), form the three-year-old is out to frank in her acid test on Saturday.
Coming right back from 55.5kg to 50kg in the Kingston Town Classic, Tuscan Queen sits top of the odds at Ladbrokes.com.au at $3.40 drawn a treat in barrier three.
Stablemate Regal Power occupies the second line of betting at $8, the Pierro four-year-old last seen winning the Group 1 Railway Stakes (1600m) with Pike in the saddle.
Damien Oliver comes aboard for the Group 1 this weekend with the jockey looking for a repeat of his 2009 Kingston Town Classic win on Sniper’s Bullet who also came off a lead-up Railway Stakes win.
Looking to be the first horse since to complete the Group 1 double, Regal Power will need luck from the gates after drawing the second outside alley (15) in the 16-starter field.
The extreme outside barrier (16) was drawn by the Simon Miller-trained Achernar Star ($21) coming off two close fourths in the Group 2 Lee Steere and Group 1 Railway, while the inside alley belongs this year to the other filly in the mix Kay Cee.
Kay Cee is at $13 in the Kingston Town Classic odds to hand her trainer Neville Parnham with a third win in the feature that he won on back-to-back years with this filly’s sire Playing God (2010-11).
Steven Parnham takes the mount on Kay Cee from barrier one on the weekend with the duo last seen running second to War Saint in the Group 2 WA Guineas (1600m), a race which Arcadia Queen won before her Kingston Town success 12 months ago.
Parnham is also represented in this year’s Kingston Town Classic field by in-form four-year-old Platoon ($26), another by gun WA sire Playing God.
Platoon has run top three in his four lead-up runs this prep, the latest seeing him under a length beaten in the Railway Stakes when third as a $41 outsider in betting.
He did it tough from gate 12 of 14 that day and has a better barrier seven draw on the weekend, but will need to be improving going up from 53kg to 58.5kg at WFA.
Also dually represented are the Royal Blue army, Godolphin trainer James Cummings saddling-up Best Of Days ($9) and Tally ($15) in barriers two and eight respectively.
