The Peter and Paul Snowden trained Redzel and the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Invincible Star are among the eleven nominations for the Concorde Stakes and both sprinters are already slotted in to run in the $13m The Everest (1200m) at Randwick on October 13.
Redzel was the winner of the 2017 Concorde Stakes before going on to win the inaugural running of The Everest two starts later and the Snitzel six year old is in fine form to make it back to back wins after producing an impressive 1000m barrier trial win on the Rosehill course proper on August 20.
“He’s now ready for the races,” Peter Snowden said.
“He was good at the finish when just asked to quicken that last furlong. He’s had a nice little blow and that should see him come on nicely for The Concorde Stakes.”
Redzel will run in The Everest 2018 for slot holder Yulong Investments.
Invincible Star was also a very impressive barrier trial winner when she streeted her rivals with a nine and three quarter lengths win over 850m at Randwick on August 13.
Waterhouse is confident that Invincible Star will carry her scintillating trial form into Saturday’s Concorde Stakes and she is looking forward to the I Am Invincible mare lining up in The Everest for slot holder GPI Racing.
“I think she is shaping up super, I can’t see why she won’t be the horse to beat in the race. She’s pretty well ready to go,” Gai Waterhouse told Racing New South Wales News Desk.
“I think it’s a wonderful thing to think a mare that is so lightly raced has been able to get in (The Everest).”
“For the slot holder to be so admiring of her to want to have her in the slot speaks to her credentials because she’s by far the most lightly raced of all the horses in the Everest.
“But she’s such a lovely mare, so honest and has such amazing cruising speed.”
