2018 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes Field & Odds Update

A smart line-up of middle-distance two-year-olds take to the Flemington track on Super Saturday in the VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes 2018, betting on the event narrowly led by the in-form filly Nasaayim and the widely-drawn Outrageous.

Featuring a host of  promising juveniles eyeing a possible Royal Randwick run in Sydney’s Group 1 $1 million ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) in April, this weekend’s Group 2 $200,000 MSS Security Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) field is down to 13 after the early scratching of the David Payne-trained Toulouse (7).

It is a tight affair at the top end of VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes betting at Ladbrokes.com.au, but current top fancies for the win installed as the $5 co-favourites are Nasaayim for Lindsay Park and the Hawkes Racing-trained Outrageous.

Out to make it a hat-trick is Redoute’s Choice filly Nasaayim, one of only two fillies in the mix.

Drawn a treat in barrier two with in-form hoop Regan Bayliss coming aboard in place of Mark Zahra, Nasaayim was last seen winning over 1200m at Caulfield on February 21.

She is back at Flemington for the first time since her narrow second on debut in mid-January and having come on well since, she’s tipped to continue the winning streak getting a gifted run from the gate.

All-in ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes 2018 odds for April 7 during Randwick’s ‘The Championships’ list Nasaayim as a $34 chance, a price sure to firm if she beats home the boys on Saturday in Melbourne.

Drawn the outside alley meanwhile is Outrageous, a well-bred All Too Hard colt who Dwayne Dunn retains the ride on.

Dunn rode the up-and-comer for his breakthrough win on February 11 at Newcastle over 1300m with 59kg and Outrageous looks set to appreciate the step-up to 1400m this weekend and the return to 56.5kg at set weights.

He currently sits as a $15 shot for the Group 1 Sydney ATC Sires’ next month and gets the chance to prove his spot near the top of those futures markets.

Following very closely at $5.50 each for the win in the latest VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes odds are then Sanctimonious and market mover Tin Hat backed in from an opening quote of $7.50.

Top trainer of two-year-olds, Tony McEvoy saddles-up the locally-trained Sanctimonious whose lead-up run on February 10 in Sydney produced a close second in the Listed Inglis Classic (D1200m).

Saturday sees the Foxwedge colt get out over further than that for the first time and the return to Melbourne should work to his advantage with the booking of Craig Williams another plus.

Helmet colt Tin aHa H  HHat meanwhile runs from a favourable barrier four draw with Damian Lane riding the James Cummings-trained Godolphin galloper who comes off a one and a half-length Ballarat win.

Other standout two-year-olds in the Super Saturday showdown include Lindsay Park’s other runner Seberate ($7.50) coming off a Blue Diamond Prelude fourth from early February, the rails-drawn Not A Single Cent ($14) who Zahra rides and McEvoy’s always-honest filly Aristocratic Miss ($15) down in class after a sixth in the Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes.
