Co-trainer Peter Snowden singled-up out untapped filly Pure Elation as the standout two-year-old from the Werribee trials on Monday morning eyeing a 2018 Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes bid with the up-and-comer.

Snowden, who trains in partnership with his son Paul, boasts a trio of previous Blue Diamond Stakes wins.

He prepared Sepoy (2011) and Earthquake (2014) when the head trainer for the then Darley, now Godolphin, operation before adding a third trophy to the cabinet when partnering up with Paul for the 2015 success with Pride Of Dubai.

The duo are again in with a strong line-up of juveniles geared towards the Group 1 $1.5 million Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield Racecourse on February 24.

A number of Team Snowden’s Blue Diamond-bound two-year-olds were put through their paces in Werribee jump-outs on Monday including the impressive grey daughter of I Am Invincible Pure Elation.

The unraced filly had two spring trials last year, including a two and a quarter length Warwick Farm victory over 807m on October 9.

In that hit-out she defeated fellow I Am Invincible filly Fiesta, the Chris Waller-trained Gimcrack Stakes third-placegetter going on to run second in October behind Legislation in Randwick’s $100,000 Kirkham Plate (1000m).

She caught the eye again on Monday showing a “tremendous attitude” to racing at such a young age according to Snowden.

“Really laid back, she’s got a tremendous attitude,” he told Racing Victoria.

“She’s blessed with good natural ability. She’s well-bred by a good mare who everyone in Melbourne would know, Members Joy.

“She did trial particularly well, she’s very laid back, she tends to switch off when she hits the front, but she’s got a very good high cruising speed, and I think there’s a bit more to come from her.”

Pure Elation is already well-fancied by the bookies in pre-field Blue Diamond Stakes betting at Ladbrokes.com.au sitting as the equal $15 early favourite with Waller’s Breeders Plate winning colt Performer.

Pure Elation is set to debut at Caulfield on January 27 in the Group 3 $150,000 Blue Diamond Fillies Preview (1000m).

Stablemate Invincible Lad will also race at the meeting in the boys’ equivalent of the same race, the Listed $150,000 Blue Diamond Colts & Geldings Preview (1000m).

A $21 chance in the futures Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes odds, Invincible Lad is also a progeny out of sire-of-the-moment Invincible Lad.

“[Pure Elation and Invincible Lad are] by a sire sire [I Am Invincible] who is not underrated,” Snowden said.

“He’s getting the kudos he deserves, he’s a very good stallion and he’s only going to keep going from strength to strength.

“I’m very happy to have a few of them; they’re all showing quite a lot of ability.”

On debut Invincible Lad finished a well-beaten ninth to Performer in the Listed Breeders Plate (1000m) at Randwick on September 30, but showed a huge jump in ability between that and his jump-out this week.

“He had one start, he ran in the first 2YO race in Sydney, and led them up until the last 50m, he’s blessed with a lot of ability and natural pace,” Snowden said on Monday.

“Today I was very conscious of getting him back and getting him to settle as his first trial at Gosford two weeks ago.

“He did it perfectly today, he relaxed really well outside the lead and asked to quicken last 100m and stepped into his work nice.

“He’s another horse that has a good bit of upside, but he furnished a lot from his last preparation, he’s a different horse, a much stronger horse and he’ll start on the same day on the 26th [27^th] in the boys’ division.”
