Jukebox Posts Impressive Win in Vain Stakes

Jukebox has completed a perfectly-timed sprint to hunt down and beat Plutocracy on the line in the Group 3 Vain Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield this afternoon.

Jukebox was a standout for Ciaron Maher through his short juvenile campaign, but was sent to the paddock before he was able to take a position in the Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes field.

Jumping from the gates well this afternoon, the Snitzel colt was settled within the field by Craig Williams as Kobayashi, Plutocracy and Ducimus traded early blows on pace.

Appearing to have a bit too much to do when four lengths off Plutocracy with 300m to travel, Jukebox mustered his signature turn of foot to fly home and just grab the win on the line; his first at black type level.

Maher was thrilled with Jukebox’s performance and win in the Vain Stakes and revealed that the Group 2 Danehill Stakes (1200m) on the Flemington straight will figure as his next point of call.

“He had a good, long break and has come back really well,” Maher said.

“He’s had a really smooth campaign and credit to the stable, they’ve really done a good job.

“He’s just in really good form and you love to see a three-year-old colt resuming like that, it’s very exciting.

“His trials have been good and our apprentice does all of his work and on Tuesday morning, he really put the writing on the wall, he worked with a stable mate and was really strong.

“He’ll go to the Danehill now and we’ll just see how we go. We’ll see how he comes through his next start, but there’s a lot of options for him and he’s certainly kicked off in great style.”

Jukebox debuted to racing for a dominant win in a 1100m maiden race at Geelong on January 12th and was sent to the paddock after winning the Inglis Premier (1200m) on February 4th.

Punters who backed Jukebox to win the Vain Stakes at Ladbrokes.com.au have been paid out on generous $3 odds!
