The Gerald Ryan-trained Schiffer is set to start from barrier nine today, the smart Snitzel filly seeking back-to-back wins after her last-start victory over 1200m at Randwick on December 26.
The barrier draw should present no issues for Schiffer, who jumped from barrier 14 with 55kg on her back for the Randwick win.
Today Schiffer drops back to 54kg with Hugh Bowman in the mount as Ryan looks to secure his first Magic Millions winner after a close second with Danbird in 2003 and third with the great Snitzel, sire to Schiffer, in 2005.
In the Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic, Karuta Queen easily defeated Schiffer who can in a second, but Schiffer has improved since then and unlike Karuta Queen has run and won since their last clash on December 5.
Karuta Queen cannot be ignored and she will make it a tight race.
To fill third and fourth we like Snippets Of Glory and Pepper Jet.
David Payne’s Snippets Of Glory is a steadily improving colt that finished a game second to Fast And Sexy at Randwick last start on January 8, they drop back in the weights today and are at great odds to Place through Luxbet.
Pepper Jet is one of the favourites at $5.50, drawn well in barrier two and unbeaten in their two career starts so look out for them as well.
