Black Caviar ran powerfully throughout the run, but it was the last 400 metres that showed exactly why there should have been no doubt she would be the Patinack Farm Classic winner.
Winning her first Group 1 run and continuing her unbeaten record, Black Caviar could possibly be the best sprinter in the world right now. It seemed like Star Witness might pull the upset over her before the final charge, but Black Caviar bolted forward and added distance until the end to finish 3 and a half lengths ahead.
The top finishing order for the 2010 Patinack Farm Classic is Black Caviar in first place, followed by a very game Star Witness in second, with Ortensia taking third place.
The sprint showdown between Black Caviar and Hay List did not produce the finish many punters and fans were hoping for with Hay List fading towards the line and finishing well back in 6th, more than 11 lengths from the winner.
