Sandown Stakes 2010 Betting & Tips – Sandown Race 5

The first Group race to take place at Sandown Racecourse today is Race 5 – the $125,000 Group 3 Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation Sandown Stakes (1500m) due to jump at 2:50pm (AEDST).

The 2010 Sandown Stakes has drawn a final field of 15 runners with Demerit the current favourite paying $4.20 to win through Luxbet.

The Peter Snowden-trained Lonhro four-year-old Demerit has been in good form this season, most recently finishing an eye-catching second in the AAMI Business Insurance Stakes (1400m) on Victoria Derby Day.

However, with the favourite drawn out wide and a number of other top chances in the field, the Races.com.au team are tipping another runner and fancy Set For Fame to win the Sandown Stakes today.

Sandown – Race 5 – Zaidee’s Rainbow Foundation Sandown Stakes Tips

  • Races.com.au Favourite: #3 Set For Fame – Rated Special to Win at $4.60 Luxbet
  • Best to Add into Exotics: #1 Luen Yat Forever, #6 Demerit and #7 Rockpecker

Drawn in barrier eight, Peter Moody’s classy Reset mare Set For Fame is our favourite in the Sandown Stakes having won the Caulfield Sprint early in the season before running a credible fifth in the Salinger Stakes last stat.

Aside from the favourite, our two other top picks to add into the exotics are Macau galloper Luen Yat Forever and Rockpecker.

Honours List gelding Luen Yat Forever failed in the Cox Plate finding the 2040m distance too testing, but ran a gallant fourth in the Emirates Stakes last start and is ideally suited to the 1500m Sandown Stakes distance.

Rockpecker adds great value to your Trifecta and First Four bets today, the seven-year-old a genuine miler that has the ability to rise and finish in the money.

So get in on the Sandown Classic Day betting action with Race 5 by signing up with premier online bookmaker Luxbet and enjoy the Tote + 20% on all the Group races on the Sandown card today!
