Racing veteran Takeover Target and his owner/trainer Joe Janiak will appear at the Winterbottom Stakes day as Perth Racing’s guests of honour.
Fans of the former sprinter will be able to see “Archie” ridden through the main parade ring while a multimedia package will be showcased around the course’s screens.
Race goers will also have the opportunity to have their photo taken with the ten year old gelding before he joins the Winterbottom Stakes field to lead the runners onto the track.
Takeover Target will then trot to the 400 metres before working at half pace down the straight and will then wait for the race to be completed in the back stalls.
At the conclusion of the race, Joe Janiak and Takeover Target will be honoured with a special presentation to farewell the pair from racing.
Takeover Target won the 2008 Winterbottom Stakes and earned over $6 million during his sprinting career with a total of 21 wins and 41 career starts.
