This Saturday Betfair Park will host the final spring feature races at Sandown, and prolific trainer Peter Snowden has his sights firmly set on victory.
Snowden has two of his Flemington carnival winners, Purple and Kidnapped both owned by Sheikh Mohammed, entered in Saturday’s events.
Four-year-old mare Purple added to her impressive two Group 1 wins last season by taking out the Group 2 Matriarch Stakes last Saturday. This weekend Snowden plans to run her in the Group 2 Sandown Classic (2400m). Purple is showing excellent form since returning from a spell, winning over 2000m in just her third start back.
Another of his promising runners, the up-and-coming Kidnapped will contend the Group 2 Sandown Guineas (1600m). Favourite for the event, Kidnapped will be up against stablemate Khas Kura. Kidnapped has had a glorious Melbourne Spring season with two impressive wins and the Darley team are certain he has a Group 1 win in him next year.
The last trainer to take out the two Sandown features was John Meaher in 1993 when Tawlord and Voting, both ridden by Steven King, were victorious.
