One of the key support acts on the Villiers Stakes Day card on Saturday, this season’s $125,000 Listed Green Options Racing Razor Sharp (1200m) has attracted a final field of 14 sprinters.

Due to run as Royal Randwick Race 8 at 5:00pm (AEDT) as the penultimate event at the summer meet, markets on the handicap clash at Ladbrokes.com.au currently have six single-figure fancies.

Sitting top of the Razor Sharp Handicap odds at $6 is first-up flyer His Majesty, the Shamardal gelding having won three and placed third in another of his five resuming runs to date.

His last run was a second over 1400m at Randwick in early October and on Saturday he chases his first victory since a 1100m Rosehill success over Sarajevo in mid-August.

His Majesty comes off a winning Gosford barrier trial by three lengths on December 5 and jumps from gate three on Saturday with Brenton Avdulla riding on 54kg.

The in-form Joe Pride-trained Kuro is the second favourite at $6.50 and is drawn mid-field in barrier seven.

Kuro comes off a Rosehill win a fortnight back in the Listed Starlight Stakes (1100m) and gets the chance at back-to-back Sydney Summer Racing Carnival stakes wins.

The five-year-old son of Denman has won two from six at Randwick Racecourse and returns to the track for the first time since his failed 12th in the Listed June Stakes (1100m) during the winter.

In the Starlight Stakes the gelding carried 55.5kg to victory and he goes up two kilos to 57.5kg on Saturday, but has top hoop Hugh Bowman coming aboard for the win.

Occupying the third line of Razor Sharp betting at $7 each are I Am Zelady and Weatherly both getting in on the 54kg minimum.

A stablemate of the second elect Kuro, the fellow Pride-trained I Am Zelady is a five-year-old daughter of I Am Invincible who is first-up for the season.

Her last run was at Eagle Farm back in June when ninth in the Group 2 QTC Cup (1300m).

Winner of the Magic Millions Fillies & Mares race at the Gold Coast in January, she has won back-to-back Warwick Farm trials this summer leading up to her return and jumps from barrier nine on the weekend with Tim Clark aboard.

Weatherly gets the rails run from barrier one with Tommy Berry booked to ride Paul Messara’s lightly-raced Beneteau colt.

The three-year-old has won one of his three career starts to date when taking out Flemington’s Listed Talindert Stakes (1100m) back in February.

He hasn’t raced since a third to Kiss And Make Up at Randwick in early March in the Group 2 Todman Stakes (1200m).

The up-and-comer has trialled three times since including a recent 900m winning hit-out at Rosehill that has him in form for a good first-up run in the Razor Sharp.

Also under $10 for the win early market mover Grunderzeit out in barrier 11 and Inz’N’Out ($9) in gate four.

Godolphin’s head trainer John O’Shea saddles-up Street Cry five-year-old Grunderzeit who has had four runs at the track for two thirds during the winter.

He won back-to-back Canterbury sprint races this campaign, the latest seeing him defeat Kuro by one and a half-lengths over 1200m on November 5.

Inz’N’Out is a Zariz gelding trained locally by Gerald Ryan, the five-year-old out to improve on his close fourth in the Starlight Stakes.

He has strong form at the track (8-2-0-3) and over the distance (10-3-3-1), but is out to break a notable winning drought that goes back to August of 2015.
