Ciaron Maher‘s class filly Tempted proved far too strong for her fellow three-year-olds when staking her early The Everest claims ahead of the spring with a dominant2026 Arrowfield 3YO Sprint win at Randwick on Saturday.

One of the key support acts on a stacked The Championships Day 2 card in Sydney, the Group 2 $1 million Arrowfield 3YO Sprint (1200m) saw last year’s The Everest runner-up Tempted ($1.60F) salute in style as the deserving odds-on favourite.

Adding to her superior Randwick track record, the brilliant and still progressive young daughter of Street Boss was a class above making it five wins from six goes at the circuit.

“What she’s already done in the short amount of time and as a two and three-year-old,” Maher told the media post-win.

“She came into our stable in super order (from James Cummings) and she just keeps going to another level each time she runs.

“She furnishes and develops.”

Her sole Randwick loss was in last year’s Group 1 $20 million The Everest (1200m) when running out of her skin to place second behind the world’s best sprinter – Hong Kong hero – Ka Ying Rising.

Making it three on the trot this prep, Maher’s last start Group 1 Surround Stakes (1400m) winner relished a drop back to the six-furlongs and left the boys in her wake to dominate the Arrowfield Sprint results.

“Her run in an Everest last year was huge (2nd); her prep to break a Group 1 (Surround), and I’m just so thrilled to be able to train for Godolphin,” Maher added.

“She presented today perfect.

“She’s one of our best, that’s for sure.

“Great to tick off that Group 1 with her last start (Surround).

“This was her target race.”

Regular rider Chad Schofield continued his lovely association with the speedy filly, timing his run to perfection yet again.

“Pleased for Chad as well, he rides her with a lot of confidence and that was a lovely cool, calm, collected ride today,” Maher said crediting today’s Arrowfield winning hoop.

“He knew what he had underneath him.”

Coming from sixth on the turn for home as last year’s Blue Diamond winner Devil Night led the field around, Tempted started to wind up 300m out from the line hitting top hear inside the final furlong in a blistering finish.

“She just makes it easy for herself, she’s just bombproof to ride,” Schofield said.

“Really is a dream. Her tactical versatility is probably what wins her or helps her a lot.

“She can be wherever you want her to be. She can be forward, back, relax and then access that turn of foot.

“It’s really breathtaking and feels amazing to be on top of and good to get the job done.

“She’s only three and she ran second in The Everest as a three-year-old.

“She’s got age on her side and I’d like to think she’s only going to keep improving.”

In an effortless performance, she flew past Devil Night who held for second while Kelly Schweida‘s ultra-consistent Queensland visitor, Grafterburners – coming off four straight wins at home – franked the form out of the Sunshine State crossing just under two lengths back third to complete the trifecta.

“Good run. Just held up momentarily on straightening and lost some momentum but found the line well,” Damian Lane said of the third placegetter.

Maher’s attention now turns to the upcoming Spring Carnival riches with Tempted set to contest the world’s richest turf race for a second time in October where she’s again likely to come up against KYR.

“She’s definitely got options, the Everest is there,” Maher said

“We’ll let her furnish and go again, whatever you take her to she’s going to be very competitive.

“She’s just got that explosive turn of foot.

“The thing is he looks like he’s (Ka Ying Rising is) getting better as well, it’s a good problem to have.”
