The 2016 Festival Stakes steals the show in Sydney on Saturday at Rosehill Gardens, betting tips and the latest odds on the Group 3 clash found below.

There are 13 remaining runners in this season’s $150,000 Group 3 The Steel Builders Festival Stakes (1500m), the quality handicap showdown set to run as Rosehill Race 8 at 5:00pm (AEDT).

Five of the middle-distance gallopers in the Festival Stakes odds at Ladbrokes.com.au are under $10 for the win including the $4 favourite Religify.

Drawn in barrier seven the in-form Chris Waller-trained Choisir six-year-old has Kerrin McEvoy retaining the ride after the pair teamed up for a win in the $100,000 November Handicap (1400m) at the track on November 19.

He drops from 58.5kg to 57.5kg this weekend and has a stellar record at Rosehill of five wins and a second from nine starts he is well-fancied to add to with a Festival Stakes victory.

The next best in Festival Stakes betting this Sydney Summer Racing Carnival include the likes of the Darren Weir-trained last start Group 3 Chatham Stakes winner in Melbourne Rageese ($5.50) and Peter & Paul Snowden’s Exceed And Excel mare Extensible ($7.50).

So will the best in betting get the job done for the punters or is there value tipping an upset Festival Stakes result from the likes of Ciaron Maher’s early market mover Hazzabeel ($14 into $8) drawn the rails who comes off a Kilmore Cup win over the mile or the 59kg top weight Amovatio ($9.50) for Team Waller?

#12 Extensible ($7.50)

There’s some class types in this line-up and happy to go with a female galloper to beat home the boys with this Rosehill specialist for Team Snowden. Tim Clark rides the mare from a gun gate (3) and she gets in on the 54kg minimum, a kilo less than she carried for a brave third to Silent Sedition last start at Sandown in the Group 3 Summoned Stakes (1500m). She’s yet to finish out of the money over the distance and will relish the return to Sydney and this course (5-2-2-1). Her last Sydney run was a fourth in the Angst Stakes and before that a 1400m win at Rosehill. Plenty of upside and plenty of boxes ticked.

#6 Religify ($4)

Deserving favourite for Sydney’s best stable who is in the right form and will be hard to hold out. Draw (7) gives McEvoy options on the ultra-consistent galloper who is another who is right at home at Rosehill (9-5-1-0). Down a kilo from his winning weight at the track over just 100m shorter a fortnight ago, gets a perfect time between runs and the extra meters shouldn’t be an issue after he ran second to Red Excitement over 1550m at Canterbury on November 5.

#13 Sweet Redemption ($12)

Love the value on offer for this flying Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained Snitzel mare. The four-year-old races at the track for the first time but the distance is ideal. She’s run in the money in her three runs in November including a mile win at Randwick carrying 59kg. Second in Sandown’s Group 3 Summoned Stakes after that and second again last time out in the Goulburn Cup. The 54kg is an advantage and she’s in the right form to suggest she’ll be in the money again.
