Kingston Town Classic 2015 Betting Tips

The Kingston Town Classic at Ascot Racecourse in Perth sees out Group 1 racing in 2015 this Saturday and below are our insider tips on the weight-for-age clash.

A final field of 16 face off in Ascot Race 8 at 4:50pm (WA time) this weekend when the $1 million Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m) lights up Perth’s premier track.

The Kingston Town Classic odds at Ladbrokes.com.au, who are the only bookie offering Best Tote or SP + 20% on the entire field this Saturday, are firmly led at $3.90 by the Andreas Wohler-trained German galloper Magic Artist.

He is looking to go back-to-back from barrier one in the race after the success of Moriarty from the inside alley 12 months ago and has 2009 Kingston Town Classic winning jockey Damien Oliver in the saddle this weekend.

The lead-up form of the favourite, out to continue the gun record of punters’ picks in the showdown, is also ideal with a Mackinnon Stakes and Emirates Stakes fourth on successive Saturdays at Flemington over the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

The main dangers in Kingston Town Classic betting lie in the undefeated Grant Williams-trained Perfect Reflection ($4.40) out to break the hoodoo of fillies in the race, Perth Cup winning mare Real Love ($6) and Delicacy ($6) who reunites with jockey Peter Hall who rode her to victory in the Group 1 SA Oaks – Derby double last campaign.

So do the bookies have it right or is there an upset Kingston Town Classic 2015 result on the cards in WA on Saturday from a longer priced hope such as Black Heart Bart ($8) or Balmont Girl ($21) who ran fourth and third respectively in the Group 1 Railway Stakes (1600m) at the track last time out?

Our 2015 Kingston Town Classic Trifecta Tip is #4 Magic Artist from #11 Delicacy and #2 Black Heart Bart

1st

#4 Magic Artist ($3.90)

The favourite’s lead-up form down under is too hard to ignore and with the favourites boasting such an imposing recent Kingston Town Classic record, he really is hard to bet against. Jockey Damien Oliver, who won this on Sniper’s Bullet in ’09, believes barrier one will suit this stallion and we agree. The gate produced last year’s winner and back up to 1800m after the close Emirates Stakes fourth over a mile in Melbourne, Magic Artist should be flying home in record time.

2nd

#11 Delicacy ($6)

Of the local hopes the form could stack up for Grant Williams’ four-year-old Al Maher mare even if jockey William Pike jumps off in favour of sticking with the filly. Delicacy won a host of races in very good company last time in including the WATC Derby (2400m) over the boys at Ascot and has six victories from a dozen starts at the track to date. She finished off her campaign so well in the winter with two Group 1s in WA over 2000m and 2500m so going up for a mile in the Railway, which has produced more Kingston Town winners than any other race in the past 11 years, she’ll be improving.

3rd

#2 Black Heart Bart ($8)

Vaughn Sigley’s five-year-old is just stepping up and up this prep kicking things off with a trio of wins including the Group 2 Lee Steere Stakes (1400m) at Ascot, where he has now won six from 18, before a brave Railway Stakes fourth. That form is likely to stack up in the Kingston Town placings again and he is drawn for the run from barrier three this weekend.
