The feature race for stayers this weekend is the Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m) at Caulfield Racecourse, with betting tips set out below.

There are 14 stayers in the field for Saturday’s Caulfield Guineas Day supporting race, running as Race 5 at 3:20pm (AEDST).

#2 Sangster (8)

Will have to overcome a wide barrier draw from gate 10 but is in good form following a Group 3 JRA Cup (2040m) second his last time out. Has proven successful as a stayer and should come home in the money.

3^rd

#12 Albonetti (12)

Sue Jaensch’s five-year-old mare is in good form ahead of Saturday and could cause an upset as a double digit betting prospect. Was unknown to the punters her last time out in the Group 3 Naturalism Stakes (2000m) but just missed out on a placing by one length despite paying odds of $61. Money has been coming in for her this time as she’s shortened from $14 to $12. Needs a win here to qualify for the Caulfield Cup.
