A representative of the Peter Moody stables has confirmed in-form mare Full Of Spirit will be scratched from Saturday’s 2014 Ipswich Cup field in favour of a run in Sydney over a little less distance.

The five-year-old daughter of Flying Spur is a dual acceptor across two states for the weekend but will stay in Sydney as opposed to heading to the sunshine state for a black type run.

In good form this campaign, including a second to Cameo in the Listed Scone Cup (1600m) two back, Full Of Spirit comes off a third at Rosehill Gardens in an 1800m handicap over 1800m carrying 56kg.

She’s been allocated the 59kg top weight in the $85,000 Freshmark Handicap (2000m) back at Rosehill on Saturday but will enjoy a massive drop back to just 48kg thanks to the apprentice claim of Taylor Marshall.

She was also allocated top weight (58kg) for the $175,000 Listed Channel 7 Ipswich Cup (2150m) in Queensland where she would have jumped from barrier 14 of 16.

Her barrier nine, now into eight, draw for the weekend and however makes Sydney the far easier assignment and Moody’s Sydney based rep Clare Cunningham is confident she’ll be ready to strike with the blinkers going on.

“She’s got the blinkers on on Saturday,” Cunningham told AAP.

“We just thought she wasn’t quite finishing off as well as we expected.

“She has been looming up on the turn and while she hasn’t been far off she just needs that little bit more. Hopefully the blinkers will help.

“She has also been crying out for 2000 metres and she gets it on Saturday.”

Full Of Spirit pays $7.50 occupying the third line of betting for the last at Rosehill behind the Gai Waterhouse-trained Excess Knowledge ($2.90) and Chris Waller’s Danehill Dancer eight-year-old I’m Imposing ($5).

The one horse scratched from the race meanwhile is the Gerald Ryan-trained Ironstein who, unlike Full Of Spirit, will run in Saturday’s Ipswich Cup after being accepted for both races.

A rising nine-year-old son of Zabeel, Ironstein has been officially withdrawn from the Sydney race and will take their spot from barrier six in the Ipswich Cup field that will be down to 15 runners with Full Of Spirit comes out.

Ironstein comes off a seventh in the Scone Cup and a fourth in the same Rosehill feature that Full Of Spirit finished third in, Ryan confident in their decision to chase the firmer track at Ipswich.

“He drew well in both places, the track was the thing that swayed it,” said Ryan’s son and stable rep Blake Ryan said.

Ironstein sits top of the latest Ipswich Cup odds at a quote of $5.50 and is followed in the markets by Tony Gollan’s Chairman’s Handicap third placed Brave Ali ($7) and the Michael Moroney-trained Garud ($7).
