2013 Melbourne Cup Target for Address Unknown

After winning the Chester Cup over 3755m in England this week the Richard Fahey-trained Address Unknown has had the world’s richest handicap, the Melbourne Cup 2013, named as another grand target.

The Oasis Dream gelding’s owner Dr Marwan Koukash admitted after winning his second Chester Cup that Australia’s iconic $6.2 million Group 1 Emirates Melbourne Cup (3200m) on the first Tuesday of November each year at Flemington had always been one of the races he had dreamed of winning.

“Winning this race means everything to me,” he said.

“Some people might take this as a surprise, but for me, winning the Chester Cup is better than winning the Gold Cup down at Ascot.

“There’s two races I want to win more than anything else, and it’s this one and the Melbourne Cup.

“We’ve got a few candidates for that, and this could be one of them.”

Having scored their fifth turf triumph at start number 21, the former Dermot Weld-trained Address Unknown improved on their disappointing campaign last time out and thrived at Chester on Wednesday (local time).

It was a huge comeback from the six-year-old who failed to come within 98 lengths of last year’s Chester Cup winner when 12th in the race 12 months ago, jockey Jamie Spencer guiding them to an excellent half a length win over Ingleby Spirit with Tominator in third.

Futures Melbourne Cup betting is already open at our No. 1 recommended online bookie bookmaker.com.au.

Markets are led by Darren Weir’s impressive grey Puissance De Lune ($9) who was last seen scoring a dead heat win with Budriguez in the Group 2 Blamey Stakes (1600m) at Flemington in March.

Address Unknown is yet to be added into the odds but when they do the best prices will be available at bookmaker.com.au – home of the country’s premium range of Fixed Win and futures odds.
