The all-in 2025 Epsom Handicap odds on Joe Pride‘s progressive miler Headley Grange have been slashed in from triple-figures to a more conservative quote following his track-record winning performance in the Group 3 $250,000 Cameron Handicap (1500m) at Newcastle on Friday.

Headley Grange produced a record-breaking performance on Newcastle Gold Cup Day to capture the 2025 Cameron Handicap storming home under Adam Hyeronimus to defeat Vivy Air by a length, with Fully Lit in third.
The five-year-old gelding settled midfield before unleashing a powerful sprint in the straight, stopping the clock at a new track record of 1:28.32.
Pride was full of praise for his consistent galloper, saying, “He’s just so tough and genuine—every time we raise the bar, he finds another level. I couldn’t be prouder of him.”
Hyeronimus echoed the sentiment, adding, “He travelled beautifully and when I asked for an effort, he really let down. He’s a horse you can trust in a tight finish.”
Looking ahead, Pride confirmed Headley Grange will be aimed at the $3 million Big Dance at Randwick on Melbourne Cup Day, November 4, for which the horse is now fully qualified for and is also considering a tilt at the Epsom Handicap on October 4 in the coming weeks.
“At some point I probably want to give him another go at a Big Dance qualifier, but I’m going to have to map something out and work out where to go,” Pride said.
“He’s already won one black-type race and I’m sure there’s plenty more to come.”
Hyeronimus is equally optimistic about the gelding’s future, stating, “He’s going so well, and I think he’ll be right in the finish wherever Joe places him next. He’s got the versatility and the will to win, so I’m looking forward to what’s ahead.”
Excellerator (2002) was the last horse to complete the Cameron Handicap – Epsom Handicap double.
Headley Grange has firmed in from $101 to $26 in the latest futures Epsom Handicap odds Ladbrokes.com.au.
Pride has trained two Epsom Handicap winners in the past four years with Private Eye (2021) and Ceolwulf (2024) last year with the latter runner in Saturday’s $1 million 7 Stakes (1600m) third-up.
Headley Grange has also firmed notably in 2025 The Big Dance odds online at Ladbrokes.com.au following the Cameron Handicap results in from $15 to $8.
