The futures quote on the progressive David Payne-trained Bangkok Hottie to win the Group 1 Flight Stakes over the Randwick mile on Epsom Day have been slashed following her impressive upset in Saturday’s 2026 Furious Stakes results at the track.

The fit filly in the field, Too Darn Hot three-year-old Bangkok Hottie ($8.50) went one better than her lead-up second in the Silver Shadow when claiming a half-length victory at a good price in the second leg of the Princess Series.
While the Silver Shadow winner Pembrey started favourite in the Furious, her run for sixth as the $2 top elect was disappointing.
“Raced very flat today,” her hoop Tommy Berry said.
“Two-week back up obviously isn’t her go. I doubt you will be seeing her on the back up again.”
Instead, Bangkok Hottie was given a peach of a ride by Kerrin McEvoy who drove her through after a speedy start and hit the line at the right time to defeat the previously unbeaten The Rosebud winner Chilly Girl with the Chris Waller-trained Perth expat, Striking Alibi, running an eye-catching third fresh under a length off this year’s Furious Stakes winner.
“She was great,” McEvoy told Sky Racing Thoroughbred post-win.
“She began like a rocket. Walking to the gates, I thought, I’ve got an open mind. I might be middle. If she doesn’t jump, I’ll be back. But then she flew it.
“She’s got the best mind as well.”
McEvoy followed instructions and had Bangkok Hottie up on speed throughout giving her a perfectly timed run that allowed her to stay in touch and secure her third win at start number six.
“We gave them a lot of start the other day and I said to Kerrin (McEvoy), have her a bit handier today,” Payne said.
“We don’t want her in front, but a bit handier. He was just worried about getting her some cover.
“She is just a very good filly.”
Bookmakers at Ladbrokes.com.au were quick to react shortening the quote on Bangkok Hottie to win the Princess Series Grand Final on October 3 in from $15 to $5 outright favouritism.

Payne confirmed next-up plans to run in the next traditional Flight Stakes led-up in the Group 2 $300,000 Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) back at Randwick on September 19.
“She goes 14 (1400 metres in the Tea Rose Stakes) and then the Flight,” he said.
“We will be riding her a bit different. She is fit now. She’s ready. I just hope all goes well.”
