The punters enjoyed another feature race win at Rosehill by a Snowden trained runner with Raging Force saluting as the favourite to make it four wins on the trot for the progressive son of Cosmic Force in the San Domenico Stakes 2025 results.

Coming off a hat-trick of wins in easier grade, the progressive gelding was terrific in his first Black-Type assignment winning the Group 3 $250,000 San Domenico Stakes (1100m) by 1.4 lengths off a good Tommy Berry ride.

“It was a good test for him today up against a Slipper placegetter and Blue Diamond winner and a few other horses that have shown a fair bit of ability. He met A-Graders not Benchmark horses. He won well,” Snowden said post-win.

The victory handed trainer Peter Snowden the Group 3 double on the day after Grand Prairie earlier saluted as the top in betting in a dramatic edition of the Up And Coming Stakes.

In the San Domenico, Raging Force cemented his credentials for a shot at the Group 1 $1 million Golden Rose Stakes (1400m) on September 27 with another emphatic performance.

In The Congo in 2021 was the last three-year-old to complete the San Domenico - Golden Rose Stakes double!

He came off a lead-up win at the same track and trip on July 5 when carrying 59kg to an easy two length handicap win in the wet.

Relishing a drop back to 55kg at set weights plus penalties in the San Domenico, Raging Force was first into stride from barrier three and led all-the-way to deny Chris Waller‘s returning Golden Slipper runner-up Wodeton.

Coming up strongly on the inside of the leader, Wodeton copped a late check as Raging Force shifted in on top of him closing him out and then racing away to victory.

The fellow Waller trained Beiwacht, a Group 2 winning Bivouac colt, was also strong first-up running third just a half-length further back at a big 15/1 starting price.

Snowden confirmed the Group 2 $300,000 Run To The Rose (1200m) back at Rosehill on September 13 as the natural next-up option.

“I think the Run To The Rose is the natural progression to take with him in a couple of weeks’ time. That will tell us whether he will get seven furlongs or whether we keep him to 12[00]m,” he said.

“The good thing about this bloke, he’s not one-dimensional. I know he sat second there today. I hope Tommy will come back whatever you throw in front of him, that he’ll chase and chase hard. No reason why he won’t get 1200m.”

It now looks onwards and upwards to the 2025 Golden Rose for the San Domenico winner with Raging Force out to complete the double for the first time since In The Congo (2021).

The latest all-in Golden Rose odds online at Ladbrokes.com.au have Raging Force into $15 to be the next.

“It was a tricky race. He bounced well but he’s a horse we want to get to 1400m for the Golden Rose,” winning hoop Berry said.

“Didn’t really have any plans today. Just wanted to get him comfortable. It didn’t feel like Zac was going quickly enough to lead me as well, so I didn’t want to just give away the fence for no reason.

“But full credit to him that he didn’t want to over-race and do things wrong. He was happy to be there as well. It’s a new string to his bow. He got a bit lost in the straight and wanted to wander about a bit. I had to stop, and grab hold of him but then he went again.

“He’s an exciting horse going forward.”
