Melbourne features its first Group 1 meeting for the spring on Saturday with the $750,000 Memsie Stakes (1400m) boasting a crack field including Laurie’s VRC Oaks – ATC Oaks champion Treasurethe Moment.

The other first-up runner with an elite-level on his CV for the stable getting things underway on the card is Vinrock who is favourite to salute fresh in the Group 3 $200,000 HDF McNeil Stakes (1200m).

The undefeated I Am Invincible colt won his opening three career starts as a juvenile including completing the rare interstate double with victories in the Group 2 VRC Sires’ at Flemington and the Group 1 Inglis Sires’ at Randwick.

The latter on April 5 had him beating a nice field by a narrow but convincing margin, and he’s had two trials ahead of his highly anticipated return this weekend.

Ciaron Maher won this race last year with Growing Empire and saddles-up last start Vain Stakes champ Jimmy Recard at a good price to back-to-back for the stable!

Vinrock sits top of the McNeil Stakes odds at $3.70 through Ladbrokes.com.au to remain unbeaten come Saturday afternoon and he’s drawn a treat in gate three reuniting with jockey Mark Zahra.

The danger occupying the second line of McNeil Stakes betting this season at $4.80 is the Lindsay Park trained Tycoon Star.

The son of Written Tycoon is second-up this prep having run an eye-catching second here fresh in the Group 3 Vain Stakes.

He was beaten only a neck by the flying Jimmy Recard carrying 58kg having made up ground from midfield and is tipped for further improvement getting up to 1200m now.

His other Caulfield assignment back in February also had him making a good late charge when third to Devil Night in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes over the six-furlongs so, he is one that is well suited to the course.

The Team Hawkes trained Blue Diamond winner is also in the McNeil Stakes mix on the weekend with Devil Night at $5.50 in barrier seven with Blake Shinn aboard the 59.5kg equal top-weight.

Punters will also find Ciaron Maher’s airborne Vain Stakes champ Jimmy Recard at single-figures with the I Am Invincible colt at a current quote of $6 to extend his winning streak to four on the trot.

Jimmy Recard certainly appeals for value with the fitness edge.

The talented and consistent gallopers hasn’t put a step wrong all prep and comes into Saturday’s Group 3 riding an impressive three-straight picket fence.

He went up in grade last start to claim the Vain Stakes here and, while the margin was narrow, he did enough to suggest he can go on with it and continue his hot form.

Already proven at the six-furlongs having carted 58kg to victory down the famous straight at HQ two starts back, the step up in distance suits and Jamie Melham retains the ride.

Maher won the race last year with the favourite Growing Empire who went on to place in a host of Group 1 spring majors including the Manikato Stakes (2nd), The Everest (3rd) and Coolmore Stud Stakes (3rd).

The other unbeaten youngsters in the field are the Nick Ryan trained Flemington stakes winner Highvol ($16), $1 million VOBIS Showden winner at the course and distance Mcgaw ($13), and Best Of The Best ($20) coming off a winning debut at Sale.

The 2025 ive > McNeil Stakes is set to run as Caulfield Race 6 at 2:55pm (AEST) on the Memsie card.
