UPDATE: Angel Capital has been scratched due to a dirty scope elevating Sepals to the top of betting. Click here for the full story.
Clinton McDonald‘s progressive three-year-old Angel Capital is tipped to keep the wins coming this prep heading betting on Saturday’s 2025 Australian Guineas field at Flemington.

The Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival continues at headquarters on the weekend with a gun field of young milers facing off in the Group 1 $1 million Australian Guineas (1600m).
Sitting top of the latest Australian Guineas odds at $3.90 and firming through Ladbrokes.com.au is Harry Angel colt Angel Capital who took his career record up to four wins from seven starts fresh in the Group 2 Autumn Stakes (1400m) on February 8.
He is now well supported to post an elite level win at his second attempt in Group 1 company after a credible sixth to Private Life in the Caulfield Guineas last time in.
His resuming performance had him winning by 1.5 lengths ahead of this step back up in grade and distance where the money is on him to complete the Autumn Stakes / Australian Guineas double for the first time since Light Fantastic (2008).
The dangers occupying the equal second line of Australian Guineas betting this year at $6 each are the rails-drawn Point And Shoot chasing a hat-trick and Cliff Brown‘s ultra-consistent Sepals coming off three consecutive victories in easier grade.
Point And Shoot gets the inside run from barrier one with Damian Lane booked to ride the Bjorn Baker trained Blue Point gelding who brings to headquarters the Sydney form lines.
He won by a runaway 5.4 lengths two back in a BM72 for 3YO & 4YOs over 1400m at Randwick before saluting again at the track up to 1600m to easily account for his rivals by over two lengths.
Saturday is tougher but he is deserving of a shot in the Group 1 and is proven at the distance.
Sepals meanwhile is airborne looking to extend his winning streak to four straight from barrier three with Blake Shinn aboard.
The Calyx gelding’s only loss to date was on debut last December and he is quickly rising through the ranks.
He raced into Australian Guineas contention winning the traditional lead-up with a barnstorming 3.25 length romp home here at Flemington in the Group 3 CS Hayes Stakes (1400m) and is now well supported to do the double for the first time since Alligator Blood (2020).
Outside the three single figure fancies a number of challengers present as value in the markets including the reigning VRC Derby champ Goldrush Guru ($11) to be ridden by Jamie Melham who is riding very well right now, Michael Dee‘s mount Savaglee ($11) from New Zealand, and Dominic Sutton‘s early market mover Feroce ($13).
Goldrush Guru presents fit third-up off a last start fourth in the CS Hayes and will appreciate getting up to a mile now.
The Pam Gerard trained Kiwi raider travels across the ditch to take on his own age down under after an impressive run for third last time out back home at Te Rapa behind Here To Shock in the Group 1 BCD Group Sprint (1400m).
Before that he won four straight including the Group 1 NZ 2000 Guineas over the Riccarton mile in November.
Super Seth gelding Feroce, a perennial placegetter who was runner-up in the Caulfield Guineas meanwhile has been backed in from $15 to $13 despite a double-digit barrier 11 draw out to improve on his third in the CS Hayes.
The 2025 Howden Australian Guineas is set to run as Flemington Race 8 at 4:15pm (AEDT) on Saturday’s 10-race card.
