- 2024 Queen Elizabeth Field Update: #9 Atishu (9) comes out in favour of a Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes title defence over the mile.
Master trainer Chris Waller looks a big chance at securing his impressive sixth Queen Elizabeth Stakes trophy in 2024 when he saddles-up the favourite in Saturday’s $5 million Sydney feature.

Royal Randwick hosts four elite level races for Day 2 of The Championships on the weekend including the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m).
The weight-for-age classic features a quality final field of 11 including five from the Waller stable led by imported mare Via Sistina.
James McDonald is in typically terrific form this autumn and retains the ride on the daughter of Fastnet Rock after partnering her for a good first-up win down under at Rosehill on March 23 in the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m).
After impressing in her Australian maiden, the six-year-old now sits top of the Queen Elizabeth Stakes odds at $2.40 through Ladbrokes.com.au to salute again.
Avilius (2019) was the last horse to complete the Ranvet Stakes – Queen Elizabeth Stakes double that Via Sistina is tipped to take out this season.
Waller has prepared the Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner five times previously most recently securing a three-peat with the mighty Winx (2017-19).
His other runners in the 2024 Queen Elizabeth Stakes field are Buckaroo in gate two for Blake Shinn, Group 1 winner Lindermann wider out in 10, Kovalica, and dual acceptor Atishu.
Atishu is also in the mix for a title defence in the Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes (1600m) with a decision pending on which showdown she will contest on the back of her last start third in Flemington’s Group 1 Australian Cup (2000m).
Following Via Sistina in Queen Elizabeth Stakes betting at $3.90 is fellow mare Pride Of Jenni for Ciaron Maher.
She won the All-Star Mile beating Mr Brightside at Caulfield by two lengths two back before a second only a quarter-length beaten in the Australian Cup on March 30.
This weekend has her fourth-up and fit looking to keep her good autumn form going as the six-year-old Pride Of Dubai mare heads up to Sydney for the first time in a year.
She ran ninth in the Queen Of The Turf on this day 12 months ago and is yet to run top three at Randwick.
The other single-figure fancy in the post-field Queen Elizabeth Stakes odds paying $7 for the Godolphin team is James Cummings’ now dual Australian Cup champ Cascadian.
The evergreen nine-year-old was excellent going back-to-back in the Flemington feature last time out on the back of a third in the All-Star Mile.
Prior to that he was racing well in Sydney including a fourth in the Group 1 Verry Elleegant Stakes (1600m), and he looks a big threat again this weekend rock hard fit and full of confidence in gate six with Ben Melham in the saddle.
Other notable hopes include Anthony & Sam Freedman’s French import Place Du Carrousel ($11) coming off a Ranvet Stakes second and Lindsay Park’s weight-for-age hero Mr Brightside ($13) out to atone for a fifth in the Australian Cup.
