The Grahame Begg-trained Nonconformist has been scratched from Saturday’s $5 million Group 1 Carlton Draught Caulfield Cup (2400m) after failing to pass his final vet check.

RV veterinarians completed mandatory inspections on all the internationals runners on Friday morning with all passed fit to run.
Nonconformist however was one of two runners ordered to undergo a subsequent check on Friday afternoon along with the Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained fancy Without A Fight after they failed their initial examination on Thursday.
While Without A Fight passed and will line-up in tomorrow’s major, Begg confirmed Nonconformist would not run having been found found to be lame in the right hind.
The horse was drawn the extreme outside barrier (19).
Harry Coffey has been left without a ride in the 2023 Caulfield Cup field.
The sole Caulfield Cup emergency, United Nations, now gets a run from out wide in barrier 17 with apprentice Ms Carleen Hefel called up for the big ride for the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace stable.
She joins Linda Meech (Goldman), Winona Costin (Bois D’argent) and Jamie Kah (Valiant King) as the four female jockeys with a 2023 Caulfield Cup ride.
Maher & Eustace now have four confirmed Caulfield Cup horses led by last year’s runner-up Gold Trip.
Updated Caulfield Cup odds at Ladbrokes.com.au have the reigning Melbourne Cup champion as the $6 top elect jumping from barrier 11 with Ben Melham aboard.
He and 70/1 outsider United Nations are also joined in the line-up by stablemates Duke De Sessa ($34) and Right You Are ($35).
The Simon & Ed Crisford-trained raider West Wind Blows ($6.50) and Without A Fight ($7) are the other top fancies in Caulfield Cup betting currently.
Japan’s Breakup is at $9.50 for his Australian race debut ahead of a shot at the Group 1 $8.41 million Lexus Melbourne Cup (3200m) at Flemington on Tuesday November 7.
One of the two Joseph O’Brien-trained Irish raiders, the aforementioned Valiant King with the inside alley, is the big Caulfield Cup market mover backed in from $18 to $9.50.
The Caulfield Cup 2023 runs at 5:15pm (AEDT) as Race 9 on Saturday’s 10-race card.
