Sandown racing gets underway at 12:10pm and the nine-race card continues through until the last at 5:05pm.

Punters are treated to a double-shot of Group racing starting with the Group 3 $200,000 Ladbrokes Sandown Stakes (1500m) – traditionally held on Zipping Classic Day in November – moved forward as the key support act.

The 2021 Sandown Stakes runs as Race 5 at 2:30pm and features a small line-up of seven hopefuls led in betting at race sponsor Ladbrokes.com.au by classy New Zealand raider Elephant coming off a lead-up second to Superstorm in the Group 2 Feehan Stakes (1600m) at The Valley.

The marquee event is of course the weight-for-age Group 1 $1 million Underwood Stakes (1800m) for the Cox Plate hopefuls and the five-horse race is dominated by Annabel Neasham’s gun galloper Zaaki who is odds-on to take out Race 7 at 3:45pm.
