The weather in Adelaide is for a partly cloudy but otherwise fine day and, without any rainfall on the radar, the current Good (4) Morphettville track rating is set to remain across the afternoon.

Morphettville racing gets underway at 11:45am (ACST) and the nine-race card continues through until 4:40pm (ACST).

The first of the Group races on the card is the Group 3 DC McKay Stakes (1100m) running as Rac3 3 for sprinters heading towards the 2021 The Goodwood in a fortnight’s time.

The DC McKay Stakes field is down to 10 with the withdrawal of Be My Star (3) and the latest markets at Ladbrokes.com.au have the Godolphin-raced Pandemic ($2.80) as the one to beat.

In Race 5 a field of fillies and mares face off over the mile in the Group 2 Queen Of The South Stakes, the 12-acceptor line-up led in betting by market mover Fabric ($3.70) for Danny O’Brien and the rails-drawn In Good Health ($4.20) from the stables of Peter Moody.

There’s another Group 1 The Goodwood lead-up next with a talented field assembled for the Group 2 Tobin Bronze Stakes – formerly the Euclase Stakes – and the consistent Will Clarken-trained Beau Rossa ($4) heads the markets.

The first of two elite level features on the program is the TAB Classic – registered as the Robert Sangster Stakes – and the 1200m sprint field is down to 16 fillies and mares after Street Icon (11) came out earlier in the week.

Race day 2021 Robert Sangster Stakes odds at Ladbrokes.com.au are led by the local Phillip Stokes-trained filly Instant Celebrity ($6.50) to be ridden by the ‘Wizard of the West’, Perth hoop William Pike coming over for the ride.

The three-year-old fillies then do battle next-up in Race 8 – the Group 1 Australasian Oaks field now featuring the in-form first emergency Americain Angel who comes in for the withdrawn Mozzie Monster as well as Spectacle replacing Tokorangi (2).

2021 Australasian Oaks betting is led by Steinem ($3.60) for Ciaron Maher & David Eustace, but there are plenty of value runners including the spring’s VRC Oaks champion Personal out wide but looking overs at $9.
