The weather in Sydney is partly cloudy but without any rain on the radar the current Good (4) Randwick track rating looks set to stay across a great afternoon’s racing.

Randwick racing gets underway with the Listed $140,000 Fireball Stakes (1100m) for the three-year-olds at 12:40pm (AEDT).

The nine-race card comes to a close at 5:40pm (AEDT) with the fillies and mares facing off in the Group 3 $160,000 Aspiration Quality (1600m) where the Bjorn Baker-trained She’s Ideel ($4.50 @ Ladbrokes.com.au) leads markets.

There is early Group racing action on the card with the 2021 Golden Slipper lead-ups.

It’s the boys’ turn first with the Group 2 $300,000 Todman Stakes (1200m) running as Race 2 and the field is down to seven with Rocket Tiger (6) and Solar Winds (9) out.

The two-year-old fillies are up next in Race 3 with all 12 original acceptors still in the mix for the Group 2 $300,000 Reisling Stakes (1200m) led in betting by Matthew Dale’s Black Opal Preview winner from Canberra Pretty Woman ($4.60).

One of the meeting’s big support races is the Group 2 $500,000 Challenge Stakes (1000m) at 3:05pm (AEDT) with Chris Waller’s reigning Australian Horse of the Year Nature Strip ($1.65) the one to beat at an odds-on quote in a small field of eight.

The first of the two elite levels and the marquee event is set to run as Race 7 with the Group 1 $1 million Randwick Guineas (1600m) scheduled to jump at 4:25pm (AEDT).

The 2021 Randwick Guineas field features 13 promising three-year-olds and markets are dominated by the undefeated Kiwi Aegon ($2.20) coming off that impressive Group 2 Hobartville Stakes victory over the locals.

There are two scratchings from the other Group 1 feature race at Randwick today, the $500,000 Canterbury Stakes (1300m) down to nine with Prague (10) out earlier in the week and news the Godolphin-raced Kementari (9) would not defend his title being withdrawn on vet’s advice.
