The weather in Adelaide is for a cool and cloudy day with scattered showers meaning there is unlikely to be any upgrade to the current Soft (7) Morphettville track rating.

Adelaide racing gets underway at 11:31am (ACST) on the Morphettville Parks Track with the dual track meeting continuing through until Race 9 at 4:40pm (ACST).

The meeting’s marquee race is of course the Group 1 $400,000 South Australian Derby (2500m) running as the penultimate event (Race 8) at 4:01pm (ACST).

The 2020 South Australian Derby field is down to a dozen three-year-old stayers after the early scratchings of #5 Miyake (14) and #13 Silent Sovereign (11).

Updated South Australian Derby betting at Ladbrokes.com.au remains led by the local star Dalasan ($3) chasing a third win on the trot but going up in distance.

Earlier in the day the key support act takes place as Race 2 at 12:06pm (ACST) with the two-year-olds facing off at the Morphettville Parks Track in the group 3 $120,000 SA Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m).

The other Black-Type feature on the Derby Day line-up is Race 6 at 2:41pm (ACST) with a dozen three-year-old milers doing battle in the Listed $100,000 Adelaide Guineas (1600m)
