Ten sprinters line-up in this year’s Group 2 $200,000 Schweppes Rubiton Stakes (1100m) field, the short distance feature serving as a key lead-up to the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate back at the track and distance on Blue Diamond Stakes Day.
Drawn wide in barrier eight, Fastnet Rock filly Anaheed sits top of the Rubiton Stakes odds at $3.70 and firming through Ladbrokes.com.au.
Jockey Tim Clark is back in the saddle having ridden her last start when third behind Loving Gaby at The Valley in the Group 1 Ladbrokes Manikato Stakes (1200m).
Prior to that Anaheed lined-up at Caulfield in the Group 3 Blue Sapphire Stakes (1200m) for a one-length win, form she will be out to emulate this weekend fresh.
In a bunched Rubiton Stakes betting market a further five of the runners are also under double figures for the win including the $5.50 second elect Age Of Chivalry.
Drawn one closer to the fence than the favourite, the Matthew Ellerton & Simon Zahra-trained He’s Remarkable four-year-old also kicks off his autumn campaign in the set weights plus penalties clash.
Age Of Chivalry boasts a great record at Caulfield (4:2-1-1) with all four of his latest starts producing a top three finish at the track.
He was runner-up behind CF Orr Stakes hopeful Begood Toya MotheAr in the Group 1 Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) last September before a third behind Fierce Impact – another single-figure chance in this weekend’s feature race – in the Group 1 Toorak Handicap over the mile.
Following closely are then All Too Royal ($6.50) for the gun Maher & Eustace stable and the well-drawn Bold Star ($7.50) in gate four.
Winner of Caulfield’s Listed Christmas Stakes (1200m) on Boxing Day, All Too Hard five-year-old All Too Royal was last seen running third in the Listed Kensington Stakes (1000m) at Flemington carrying 58.5kg.
He will be better suited returning to Caulfield over the extra distance and comes back to 58kg here.
Bold Star meanwhile carried 55.5kg to victory in the Kensington Stakes, the in-form Needs further four-year-old now chasing his fourth win from five starts.
This is his first run at Caulfield however, the straight track specialist looking to prove himself around the bend going up to 58kg with Craig Williams aboard.
John Sadler’s Brazen Beau colt Sartorial Splendor ($8) having his first start since a ninth in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes at Flemington over the Cup Carnival and the Team Hawkes-trained Scone Inglis Guineas winner from last May Wild Planet ($9) round out the runners under $10.
