The Group 1 racing action of the Brisbane Winter Carnival is back at Doomben Racecourse today for Queensland Oaks Day 2019, the meetings official scratchings and morning track report detailed below.

Libran

Libran has been scratched from the 2019 PJ O’Shea Stakes field at Doomben on Oaks Day.

Fans are treated to a nine-race card at Doomben across the afternoon and with no chance of rain until Sunday morning the current Good (4) track rating looks set to stay.

Racing in Brisbane kicks off later this morning at 11:10am (AEST) and continues through until the card-closer at 4:15pm (AEST) where trainer Chris Waller is left with three runners in the Group 2 $400,000 2019 P.J. O’Shea Stakes (2200m) after the scratching of #3 Libran.

The day’s opening Group status race is the Group 2 $200,000 2019 Moreton Cup (1200m) – Race 4 – where the field is down to just eight runners following the withdrawal of both #2 Astoria who had the outside alley and the 52kg lightweight #10 She’s A Thief.

The big race all the punters are awaiting though is Doomben Race 8 – the Group 1 $500,000 2019 Queensland Oaks (2200m) where the first emergency #17e On The White Turf (16) gets a run from a wide barrier following the scratching of the Brian Smith-trained #7 Belle Roc.
