It is a hot and sunny day in Melbourne today with temperatures set to reach 34 degrees and with no chance of rainfall the current Good (4) Flemington track rating is set to stay.
Super Saturday racing kicks off at 12:15pm (AEDT) and the nine race card goes through until 5:20pm (AEDT).
There are two Group 1 highlights on the program starting with the sprinters doing battle in Race 6 – the 2018 Newmarket Handicap field still featuring the full 15 final acceptors including the defending champion Redkirk Warrior ($8) and easing $5.50 favourite Merchant Navy.
Two events later and it is the weight-for-age Australian Cup 2018 (Race 8) stealing the show and the line-up of 12 remains intact with Darren Weir’s last start Peter Young Stakes winner Gailo Chop ($3.40) the one to beat.
