The 2018 Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Fillies Preview field is already down by one after the Gary Portelli-trained Secret Lady was withdrawn from the Caulfield feature on Saturday.

Portelli originally accepted for his Choisir filly to back-up from her Gold Coast Magic Millions 2YO Classic fifth in this autumn’s Group 3 $150,000 Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Preview (Fillies) (1000m) on the weekend.

He made the early call soon after final acceptances however to bypass the first traditional lead-up to the Group 1 $1.5 million Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) on February 24 after Secret Lady drew out in gate 10.

There are now just 10 fillies set to line-up in the event, which runs as Caulfield Race 3 at 12:00pm (AEDT) and follows directly on from the Blue Diamond Preview race for colts and geldings.

Of the remaining hopefuls, just three have previous race experience including the Tony McEvoy-trained Oohood.

She jumps from gate eight first-up with Luke Currie back aboard the daughter of I Am Invincible who debuted at Ladbrokes Park on November 18 finishing a nostril flare second behind Long Leaf in the Listed Merson Cooper Stakes (1000m) after missing the kick.

Oohood, who has been improving on her barrier manners in the interim, currently sits as a $21 chance in pre-field Blue Diamond Stakes betting at Ladbrokes.com.au, a price that is sure to firm if she salutes in her campaign kick-off on the weekend.

McEvoy is dually represented in the Blue Diamond Fillies Preview field this Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival also accepting for the unraced Lake District Girl.

Just longer than her stablemate in futures Ladbrokes Blue Diamond Stakes odds at $26, the Not A Single Doubt filly on debut after two official trials last year.

She was originally down to debut in the Group 3 Ottawa Stakes on Melbourne Cup Day at Flemington, but was scratched on race morning and finally gets the chance to prove her potential.

The shortest priced of the fillies in the Blue Diamond Preview field in early markets for next month’s Group 1 meanwhile is Pure Elation paying $13 to give Peter & Paul Snowden another Blue Diamond trophy.

Drawn one inside of Lake District Girl (4) with barrier three for Saturday, I Am Invincible filly Pure Elation has her first start and Michael Walker is booked for the ride.

Walker rode the highly-spruiked filly for her latest official trial at Warwick Farm on October 9 when she won an 800m hitout by over two lengths.

“Pure Elation will going to the races for the first time but has won a trial up here,” co-trainer Paul Snowden told The Sydney Morning Herald last week.

There are two fillies in Saturday’s race with a previous win on the record including the Tim Hughes-trained Crossing The Abbey.

The daughter of Helmet improve don a Listed Maribyrnong Trial (1000m) fourth last October to salute first-up at Flemington on New Year’s Day over 1000m with Craig Williams in the saddle.

William rides her again second-up from barrier five.

Cranbourne’s Greg Eurell saddles-up the other non-maiden in the mix, his Equiano filly Lady Horseowner having won over 1000m at Moonee Valley on debut in early December.
