Due to jump at 1:25pm (AEST) as the fourth race on the nine event $10 million card, this summer’s $1 million Magic Millions Trophy (2200m) field is at capacity and the firming favourite is Sedanzer.

Backed in from $3.50 to $2.90 in the latest Magic Millions Trophy odds at Ladbrokes.com.au, the consistent Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained Sebring mare is after her fourth win from her past five starts.

Last time out the four-year-old went down as the narrowly beaten favourite running second at Gosford on December 28 in the Group 3 Belle Of The Turf Stakes (1600m).

She is yet to win over further than a mile, but that hasn’t deterred the punters who have come for Sedanzer in the markets as she drops back in weight and gets an inside run from gate three.

If Sedanzer struggles over the distance, the other major player in Magic Millions Trophy betting this Queensland Summer Racing Carnival is Payroll ($3.90).

Richard Laming’s Not A Single Doubt mare is after win number three on the trot after success in the Group 3 Eclipse Stakes (1800m) and Listed Lord Stakes (1700m) in Melbourne.

This is her second trip to the Gold Coast after a close third in the Magic Millions Trophy results 12 months ago and she presents fit and ready to fire with Damien Oliver in the saddle.

So will the best two in betting be the first two over the line on Saturday or is there value tipping an upset Magic Millions Trophy contender such as the Gary Moore-trained All Too Hard colt All Too Huiying ($16) coming off successive Gold Coast placings or even Barry Lockwood’s last start winner at the track Skytrek ($31)?

Our 2018 Magic Millions Trophy Trifecta Tip is #2 Payroll from #11 All Too Huiying and #14 Skytrek

#2 Payroll ($3.90)

Have queries about how race favourite Sedanzer will run the metres and happy to stick with big race hoop Oliver and this in-form mare. Her recent wins have been impressive, including the Boxing Day success carrying 58kg. The step-up in distance has her chasing a maiden victory over further than 1800m, but she has class and was only a length beaten at big odds when third in this race last summer. Big hope again and wider alley a non-issue.

2nd

#11 All Too Huiying ($16)

Double-figure offering on this consistent All Too Hard colt could prove generous. Has had three Gold Coast starts including two placings this time in. The latest he crossed a half-length third over 1800m on January 6 so he is on the quick back-up with the fitness edge. Drops right back from 59.5kg to 54kg and that will see him flying. Could be leading early from the draw, chance to give them something to chase and hold for a place.

3rd

#14 Skytrek ($31)

Roughie of the day for a top three finish, this Barry Lockwood-trained Not A Single Doubt five-year-old was impressive with 58kg on his back for an 1800m win here on December 30. Also won the Lismore Cup over 2100m back in September so the distance looks no problems and he’ll enjoy coming back to
