Outsider One More Honey handled the wet conditions the best when she scored an upset win in the Group 2 $200,000 Vale Edgar Britt OAM Sweet Embrace Stakes (1200m) at Randwick today.

Persistent rain at Randwick during the day has seen the track downgraded to a Heavy 8 but that didn’t worry the John Thompson trained filly who ploughed through the mud to overhaul the leader Arctic Angel in the shadows of the post.

One More Honey was coming off a last start fifth to Teaspoon in the Group 3 $150,000 Widden Stakes (1100m) at Rosehill on January 28 and was sent out at the long odds of $21.

Melbourne filly Arctic Angel ($5.50) set the pace and after looking the winner half way down the straight, the heavy ground took his toll and the Hard Spun filly was shortening stride as the post loomed but was able to hold on for second.

The Michael Freedman trained Tesapoon ($6) raced just off the pace and was finding the line strongly to fill third spot.

In a tight betting race Savatiano started the $5 favourite but failed to handle the wet conditions and missed finishing in the first four.

Winning jockey Jay Ford settled One More Honey just behind the speed and her late finishing burst could she her finding a spot in the field for the Group 1 $3.5m Longines Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill on March 18.
