2017 Magic Millions QTIS Open Field & Betting Odds

The field and betting markets for the Magic Millions QTIS Open 2017 at the Gold Coast Racecourse on Saturday are now out with two horses battling for top spot.

Due to jump as the Gold Coast Race 3 at 12:50pm (AEST), this season’s $1 million Magic Millions QTIS Open (1300m) has attracted a full field full of talented middle-distance gallopers.

Heading the latest Magic Millions QTIS Open odds at Ladbrokes.com.au are the in-form Matthew Dunn-trained Madotti (44.40) and Pepperano ($4.50) from the Brisbane stables of Liam Birchley.

Madotti and Pepperano jump alongside each other drawn in barriers five and four respectively and the bookies are tipping them to fight it out in the Magic Millions QTIS Open results.

Tye Angland rides Dunn’s Murwillumbah-based Falvelon mare Madotti, the four-year-old having her sixth start at the Gold Coast track.

Fourth in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic back in 2015, she also ran on Magic Millions Day last year crossing under three lengths away fifth to Mahuta in the Guineas.

Her latest win was a first-up effort at Rosehill carting 60kg to victory over 1200m and she comes off a brave second to Egyptian Symbol in the Wyong Magic Millions 3YO & 4YO Stakes from December 22.

Madotti drops down to the 54kg minimum in the Magic Millions QTIS Open field after carrying 57kg at Wyong and has a powerful late finish that could see her come out on top.

Her biggest danger is Pepperano who has run top two in her six latest starts.

Birchley scratched the brilliant Court Command mare out of the Magic Millions Fillies & Mares (1300m) race in favour of the QTIS Open where the four-year-old is well-weighted on 54kg.

Star hoop Craig Williams, who has enjoyed plenty of Gold Coast Magic Millions race success over the years, is booked to ride the gallant grey.

She won three on the trot including the Greys’ race over 1400m at Flemington during the Melbourne Cup Carnival and comes off a December 24 second over 1200m at Doomben.

That day saw Pepperano beaten only a neck carrying 58.5kg and with Williams back aboard and the drop in weight here, she’s hard to deny over a distance she boasts two wins from three starts over to date.

Outside the dominant duo in Magic Millions QTIS Open betting, the other top fancy after the lucrative $600,000 first prize in the third is Havasay ($7.50) drawn gate eight for jockey Dwayne Dunn.

Also representing Birchley, the four-year-old Rothesay gelding ran fourth at Doomben last time out and the test for Dunn will be to keep the back-marker close enough to be a danger late.

Rounding out the single-figure hopes at $8 is the Toby Edmonds-trained Jet Spur six-year-old Siegfried coming off a win in the same race producing Havasay.

Jeff Lloyd stays aboard from gate six on Saturday as the proven Gold Coast performer (9-1-3-3) looks for back-to-back summer wins.
