Kiss And Make Up Primed for Golden Slipper 2016
Trainer Gai Waterhouse has been thrilled with the form displayed by two-year-old Kiss And Make Up and is confident the colt has the class to win Saturday’s featured Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) at Rosehill Gardens.

Kiss And Make Up is yet to taste anything but success through his short racing career so far, but stamped himself as a serious Golden Slipper contender when charging home to win the Group 2 Todman Stakes (1200m) by close to three lengths on March 5th.
Waterhouse revealed the More Than Ready colt has taken plenty of benefit from his two runs this time and is primed for a big performance in the Golden Slipper 2016 this weekend.
“Kiss And Make Up the colt is unbeaten in his autumn campaign,” Waterhouse said after Tuesday’s Golden Slipper barrier draw.
“Yes he hasn’t had a spring run but he trialled in spring and is lightly-raced.
“He’s a horse on the up with fantastic cruising speed and an electrifying finish. I think he makes for a pretty hard horse to beat.”
Waterhouse will also saddle Scarlet Rain in the 2016 Golden Slipper and believes both runners are a chance, should they receive the luck in running required to win the world’s richest two-year-old race.
“Luck plays a huge part in the Slipper because you have to be in the right place at the right time,” Waterhouse said.
“It’s just a fabulous time. It’s so exciting, it’s the greatest race we have in Australia because it really makes the stallion. We’re so lucky to have this race.”
Trialling well in the lead-up to his competitive debut, Kiss And Make Up immediately stamped himself as a colt to follow when delivering handy field a comfortable defeat in the TAB.com.au Maiden Plate (1200m) at Canterbury first-up on February 17th.
