The Outback Prince colt is one of 11 three-year-olds making up the final field for Saturday’s $125,000 Group 3 Mittys Rough Habit Plate (2000m), which is due to jump as Doomben Race 2 at 12:17pm (AEST).

Apprentice jockey Luke Tarrant has the ride form barrier nine aboard Jumbo Prince who has run first or second in his five most recent runs, and who shoots for his third win from four starts this time in.

The youngster is on the short back-up however having raced at home only last Saturday when beating home the Gai Waterhouse-trained Skylimit as the odds-on favourite in the Toowoomba Guineas (1625m).

He steps up in distance on Saturday but has winning form up to 1800m and has been tested right up to 2200m, and so looks a top chance to win his first Group 3 on the weekend if he can handle the seven day turnaround.

Jumbo Prince is one of two last start winners in the Rough Habit line-up this weekend, the other being the lightly-raced Desert General.

Drawn in gate three for jockey Paul Hammersley, the Commands gelding has won two of his four starts to date including over 1600m at the Sunshine Coast in the mud last Sunday putting him on only a six day back-up.

Local Brisbane horseman Liam Birchley has also accepted for Reckless Abandon, the Nicconi gelding having run fourth beaten just over four lengths by Jumbo Prince in last weekend’s Toowoomba Guineas.

Also with multiple runners are fellow Brisbane trainer Robert Heathcote who has accepted for both Gid Up Strop and Fusina, drawn in barriers one and two respectively.

Damian Browne has the ride on Pendragon gelding Gid Up Strop who is out to atone for a 10th last time out in the Group 3 Gunsynd Classic (1800m) at the Gold Coast on Hollindale Stakes Day.

Fusina meanwhile won back-to-back races over 2020m and 1600m respectively earlier in the autumn before failing in the Gunsynd when dead last crossing 10th, over 20 lengths off the winner.

Queensland bred but now interstate based Peter Moody is also dually represented in the Rough Habit Plate field on Saturday saddling up Inauguration and Upham, to be ridden by Hugh Bowman and Kerrin McEvoy respectively.

Third first-up to Hi World in the Group 3 Carbine Club Stakes (1600m) in Sydney, Authorized gelding Inauguration is another Gunsynd flop out for atonement here having run second last (9th) last time out.

Upham though was more competitive in his lead-up run, the recent Wyong winner over the mile crossing second to Worthy Cause in the Gunsynd making him one of the top hopes for Saturday’s feature.

Other notable Rough Habit Plate hopes in 2015 include the Chris Waller-trained Saddler’s Lake coming off a Randwick mile second in the mud from April 25 and Ben Aherns’ Beaudesert-trained colt Chillin With Dylan who has run third in his two lead-up runs including the Gunsynd a fortnight ago.
