Having returned to the track in strong form this preparation, That’s A Good Idea is featured as clear $2.70 favourite for Maurice McCarten Stakes betting markets, currently displaying odds of $2.70 for victory this Saturday.
Trained by Joseph Pride at his Warwick Farm stables, That’s A Good Idea has amassed six wins and four places from his 16 race starts to date, but is yet to find the line in the clear this preparation, having finished fourth behind Terravista in the Group 3 Southern Cross Stakes (1200m) first-up before placing third in the Ibis Milano Dinner Special (1100m) most recently.
The Flying Spur gelding has received notable attention from punters in the opening 24 hours of betting, cutting in from an opening price of $2.90 to register at current odds.
Aiming for his fifth win from eight starts this campaign alone, talented four-year-old Kencella is currently featured as outright second favourite in betting markets for the 2014 Maurice McCarten Stakes, but will have to overcome the slightly wide barrier six on Saturday.
Having more than proven himself in minor racing events, punters have offered a reasonable number of wagers for the John O’Shea-trained Exceed And Excel gelding since markets first opened on Wednesday, maintaining an opening quote of $4.50.
Allocated the ideal inside gate at Wednesday’s Maurice McCarten barrier draw, Peter Moody-trained Flamberge has received good attention in betting markets, cutting in from an opening price of $5.10 to currently offers punters good value a quote of $4.60.
Flamberge has secured five wins and five places from his 15 race career to date, and has returned to the track this campaign in competitive form, following up a near-three length victory in the Group 3 Standish Handicap (1200m) with two particularly competitive runs for fifth in both the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) and Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m).
Moody has underlined an appearance in the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) on April 12th as the major target for Flamberge this season, and is confident of a successful run in the Maurice McCarten Stakes this weekend.
Yet to appear on track in 2014, Va Pensiero has received huge support in betting markets so far, cutting in from an opening price of nearly $15 to currently sit as the undoubted $9 market mover.
While noticeably tiring toward the end of his 2013 spring preparation, the Stratum colt has claimed victories in both of his first-up starts in his short racing career so far, including the Group 3 San Domenico Stakes (1100m) on August 17th.
Having trialled well at Randwick in late February, Va Pensiero offers punters incredible value at current price.
