Warwick Farm Race Nominations – 2011 Wenona Girl Handicap

A bumper eight-race programme will light up Sydney’s Warwick Farm Racecourse this Saturday March 12 for Randwick Guineas Day, the meeting headlined by seven black-type events including the $100,000 Listed Wenona Girl Handicap (1200m).

The 2011 Wenona Girl Handicap has drawn 18 mares at nomination stage, the top-rated entry being the Anthony Cummings-trained Sister Madly.

Redoute’s Choice four-year-old Sister Madly resumed for the season on February 12 with a stunning win in the Group 3 Southern Cross Stakes (1200m) at Randwick.

Group 1 placed last year, Sister Madly is sure to start at the top of the Wenona Girl Handicap odds when markets open at Luxbet.

Other top fancies nominated for the 2011 Wenona Girl Handicap include:

  • Jerezana (Peter Snowden) – Four-year-old daughter of Lonhro running first up, had two starts during the spring including a close second in a black-type during the Melbourne Cup Carnival, nice consistent record and will be one of the favourites if accepted
  • Trim (Peter Snowden) – Another Darley-owned Lonhro four-year-old second-up for the season after a good fifth to Kiss From a Rose in the Listed Triscay Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on February 19, Group winner during the spring but will be first look at the track
  • Ladys Angel (Joseph Pride) – Locally trained Arena mare resuming after a good last preparation, first run in stakes’ company but distance should be ideal
  • Purrpurrlena (Grahame Begg) – Catbird five-year-old most recently ran seventh in the Group 3 Millie Fox Quality, will improve from the step back in class

Warwick Farm racing this Saturday is highlighted by the $500,000 Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) and the final field for all the day’s races will be out tomorrow and published right here at Races.com.au.

Following the final fields we will also be publishing the best Randwick Guineas Day race previews and betting tips so stay tuned.
