This Saturday February 12 racing fans are in for a treat with five metro race meets set to run including a quality eight-event programme at Brisbane’s Eagle Farm track and here we have the winning Eagle Farm Saturday Track Tips.
Racing at Eagle Farm will get underway tomorrow at 1:17pm (AEDST) with Race 1 – the $50,000 Patinack Farm QTIS Two-Years-Old Handicap (1200m) where after the early scratching of #3 Merryanna, Jet Spur colt Biggles will start the favourite.
The headline race at the meet will be Race 7 the $100,000 St Margaret’s Girls School Fillies & Mares Handicap (1200m) at 5:00pm.
In Eagle Farm Race 7 we are tipping an upset with #2 Funtantes to improve on their last-start ninth in the Listed Nudgee Quality and claim a win for Robert Hickmott, the Easy Rocking mare advantaging from their drop back in weight tomorrow.
There will also be plenty of attention on Race 6 at Eagle Farm as Ben Currie’s classy Toowoomba gelding Rothera resumes racing in the $75,000 Brothers Juniors Rugby Club Handicap (1200m) at 4:20pm (AEDST).
Rothera enjoyed a stakes win at Caulfield in the Group 3 Betfair Stakes (1400m) on October 16 before finishing dead last in the Emirates Stakes on a heavy track after running with minor injuries on both his hind legs.
Following Saturday’s first-up run in Queensland, Currie has plans to take Rothera interstate for the autumn carnival.
Options for Rothera include the Group 1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) at Randwick on April 16 or the Group 1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill on March 19, depending on how Rothera improves as a stayer.
