Champion Macau galloper Luen Yat Forever has been scratched from the 2010 Kingston Town Classic field after being accepted for the $500,000 Ascot feature yesterday due to transportation issues.
Trained by Pou Choi, classy Honours List gelding Luen Yat Forever was one of 16 final acceptors for Saturday’s Group 1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m), however the five-year-old will not take their spot in the field after transport difficulties getting to Perth.
It was a similar story for Mick Price’s Victorian runner True Persuasion last week, who had to miss out on a run in the Group 2 Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) at Ascot after failing to gain a flight to Western Australia.
Leading online bookmaker Luxbet had Luen Yat Forever as a $12 chance in their Kingston Town Stakes betting markets.
With the scratching of Luen Yat Forever, odds on the favourite Playing God are now set to shorten so now is the time to get behind them before they firm further.
In other 2010 Kingston Town Classic news William Pike, who was aboard $41 roughie Hadabeclorka for their upset Winterbottom Stakes win last Saturday, has chosen to take the mount on Ranger for Saturday.
Currently at $12 to win the Kingston Town Classic through Luxbet, the Grant Williams-trained Ranger has been in excellent form this season running a gallant second to God Has Spoken in the Group 3 RJ Peters Stakes (1500m), beaten by just a head, before taking out a 1600m handicap here last start.
Pike was given the chance to ride Ranger’s stablemate Tranquility ($18 Luxbet) in Saturday’s showdown, but chose to stick with Testa Rossa four-year-old Ranger who he has ridden for their past three starts.
William’s Redoute’s Choice mare Tranquility will be ridden by Alan Kennedy.
Below is the updated Kingston Town Classic field.
The 2010 Kingston Town Classic barrier draw will be released by Perth Racing later this morning and published here at Races.com.au.
In the meantime, check out the latest odds and market movers for the race at Luxbet.
