2010 Victoria Derby Odds & Betting Tips
The updated odds for the 2010 Victoria Derby following the final field and barrier draw for the three-year-olds’ feature at Flemington this Saturday have been released, with Rekindled Interest and Retrieve battling for favouritism.
Currently the Tabcorp-owned Luxbet have AAMI Vase winner Rekindled Interest as the $3.60 favourite to win the $1.5 million Victoria Derby (2500m).
The AAMI Vase has been the traditional Derby lead-up for many years with punters getting behind Redoute’s Choice colt Rekindled Interest to add their name to the list of greats who have won the AAMI Vase / Victoria Derby double.
However, Retrieve is challenging Rekindled Interest in the Derby betting sitting as the close second favourite at $3.60 through Luxbet.
The Peter Snowden-trained Retrieve, last-start winner of the Norman Robinson Stakes, has drawn ideally in barrier two for the Victoria Derby making them a top chance.
Only two other runners in the capacity 16-horse plus four emergencies Victoria Derby field are at single figure odds, with Digital Fortress paying $8.50 and Almindoro at $9.50 through Luxbet.
Digital Fortress has enjoyed a solid spring preparation with back-to-back wins over the mile at Warwick Farm before a gallant third place finish behind Retrieve in the Norman Robinson Stakes, however is drawn wide in barrier 14 for Saturday.
Almindoro has drawn better with gate five, the Redoute’s Choice gelding coming off two second place finishes in the UCI Stakes (1800m) at Flemington and the Norman Robinson Stakes last-start.

- Lion Tamer ($14) – great run in the AAMI Vase behind Rekindled Interest and one to watch if track is Dead or worse
- Praecido ($19) – Consistent colt placed at Group 1 level and in good form
- Shootoff ($31) – Very generous price, was strong carrying a big weight in the AAMI Vase and looks good dropping back to 55.5kg on Saturday
