This Saturday Ascot will host the next exciting race meeting of the Perth Racing Carnival, headlined by the 88th running of the time-honoured $250 000 Group 3 CB Cox Stakes (2100m).
Recently appointed Burswood Entertainment Complex November Horse of the Month and Railway Stakes winner Scenic Shot is aiming for another Group victory in Perth on Saturday and is one of the favourites for the weight-for-age feature after drawing well with barrier two.
Securing the coveted rail draw with barrier one is Michael Peteman’s Marine Drive. There is also lots of favouritism surrounding the Peter Moody trained Group 1 WATC Derby winner Markus Maximus.
Other fancied runners include the David Hayes-trained Largo Lad, who also pulled up well in the barrier draw and will start from barrier three.
The other feature race at Ascot on Saturday is the 22nd $100 000 Listed R S Crawford Stakes (1000m).
The Landscape Development CB Cox Stakes is scheduled as race five at the meeting’s bumper eight-event card while the R S Crawford Stakes will run as race seven.
