Due to run as Flemington Race 4 at 2:15pm (AEST), this season’s $120,000 Listed The Sofitel (1400m) features a final field of 15 runners.

Sitting top of the latest The Sofitel odds at Ladbrokes.com.au paying $4 to enjoy his second win from three starts this time in is Magnus four-year-old Prince Of Brooklyn.

The lightly-raced improver has had just the nine runs to date for three wins and four seconds, his past five starts all producing a top two finish.

His last start at Flemington was on July 9 when runner-up by a narrow margin to Lord Von Costa in the Listed AR Creswick Stakes (1200m), while he has won once since over 1400m at Caulfield first-up in mid-August.

Last time out Prince Of Brooklyn raced over the same track and distance for a second to He’s Our Rokkii on August 27, the two weeks between runs ideal leading into Saturday.

Well-weighted on the 54kg minimum in The Sofitel, Prince Of Brooklyn is also drawn well in barrier five and has Craig Newitt replacing Damien Oliver in the saddle.

Occupying the second and third lines of The Sofitel betting respectively are early market mover Ulmann ($5) and Tashbeeh ($5.50).

One of two in the field for Darren Weir, five-year-old Sebring gelding Ulmann won a the track and distance two back in early August before heading to Adelaide for a fifth to Rocket Commander three weeks ago in the Listed Penny Edition Stakes (1400m).

He drops from 59kg that run in the mud to 55kg on Saturday and has Oliver booked for the ride.

Tashbeeh is higher-weighted with 57.5kg and is out in barrier 10 with Mark Zahra on the Lindsay Park-trained Commands stallion.

The five-year-old has an excellent Flemington record of three wins and three thirds from six starts at the track, including the August 6 third to Sooboog in the Group 3 Aurie’s Star Handicap (1200m).

His last run on August 27 was in tougher class when a brave fourth as a 51/1 roughie behind Saturday’s 2016 Makybe Diva Stakes favourite Black Heart Bart in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield.

He had 59kg on his back in that weight-for-age feature and will enjoy coming back in weights and class for his Listed assignment this Saturday.

Rounding out the single-figure fancies in The Sofitel field are Bon Aurum ($9) and Cool Chap ($9) in gates 13 and seven respectively.

Ciaron Maher trains Bon Hoffa four-year-old Bon Aurum, the four-year-old second-up after a third at Caulfield in a Benchmark 78 and dropping from 60kg to 54kg with Craig Williams riding.

Cool Chap meanwhile is first-up making his four-year-old debut, the Lee & Anthony Freedman-trained local son of High Chaparral last seen running third to Howard Be Thy Name in the Group 1 SA Derby (2500m) in mid-May.

The resuming stayer will improve on whatever he does first-up at this distance, and has won his only previous Flemington start on Anzac Day in the Listed VRC St Leger (2800m) beating Etymology.
